[history]
Either Britney Spears isn't aware that a war is going on, or that's what she would like you to think.
At a news conference in Toronto before a concert Monday, the 19-year-old pop icon was at a loss for words when asked whether she supported the U.S.-led military strikes against Afghanistan.

Frankly, who cares? She's a pop "singer" for crying out loud. What obligation does she have to inform herself on this issue? She's also 19 years old. You know how many 19 year olds have a clearly defined position on this war? What the hell kind of response did this reporter think he/she would get? Smells like a set-up to embarrass her. From the responses on this thread I would say it was successful. All-in-all a complete non-event.

Shes a bimbo that looks like a whore. The problem is that they even ask her for an opinion. Like I care what she thinks anyway.

"Nineteen year olds are as old as we ask them to be. We may be asking more from them real soon now."
I think the 19 year old in question is absorbed in self and her millions.

Re #20: Cocaine eyes.
Pull-up a chair folks and watch the next starlet crash-and-burn.

Your point is well taken -- but we haven't asked anything of them yet. That may well change.

Upon reflection, maybe we're being too hard on the little fluff.
After all it's not as bad as some of our Congress-Critters, who are just as clueless, but have the power to codify their stupidity into law.
Besides, who is more deserving of ridicule, Britney or someone like Sheila Jackson-Lee.
Remember the story, when Jackson-Lee went to the Johnson Space Center? She was invited to view the Mars Rover mission. She asked if the Rover could go to the spot where the Apollo astronauts had planted the flag.
At least Britney knows to shut up and look pretty.
Jackson-Lee is incapable of either one.

Encore!, Encore!

Come on. You don't think her agent, manager, publicist, booking agent, talent coordinator, etc...have told her to stay off this subject? She is a business just like any other. Do you see Microsoft, IBM, or Chevy releasing statements about how they support our troops over there? Britney is an institution now and everything is monitored to the Nth degree. Of course she has a personal opinion. Everyone does. She is not in a postition to let it be known, however. No biggie. Who cares anyway? She's a singer!

"Yikes! I'm speechless." Speechless...mindless...worthless...unless clothes-less.

Ben Affleck.

Actually, I see a lot more "green" eyes around here.
Lessee...she said she supports the bombing, and as I pointed out, she supports President Bush.
Yeah, she deserves ridicule. I wish we'd stick to the actual liberal celebs who shoot off their mouth about every subject. We ask that celebs keep their mouths shut when they say something we don't agree with, then we hold up to ridicule one who says something we -should- agree with.
Exactly what am I not understanding?

This happens all the time. Tiger Woods said during his year when he won the Masters that he didn't understand why people studied history in college since it's about what some dead guy did 200 years ago. The vast majority of athletes and stars are not qualified to stand on the intellectual pedestals on which we place them.

Either Britney Spears isn't aware that a war is going on, or that's what she would like you to think."Uh, um, ... " she stuttered anxiously, her eyes searching the room for a handler, "I don't understand."

I agree, she's about one of the last people you would expect to have any real
political opinion about current events in the world.
Ask her about a new song, or a costume design if you expect her to have a real opinion.
Did anyone else see her on Letterman last night? First time I ever actually watched her "perform", and I must say - she's IMHO she's not just another bimbo. Not my kind of music, but you have to recognize talent and hard work.

Britney Spears says people shouldn't consider her a role model. She insists she's just like everybody else. Britney says it's only when she's on stage that she puts on a performance. When she comes off stage she says: "I trip and I burp and I fart just like everybody else!"source
