He was anti-communist; he was for law and order; he was for tax cuts; he was the last one with the courage to really go after the mob and union corruption; he was pro-life; he believed business and free enterprise held many of the solutions to persistent poverty; he was real and honest and wore his emotions on his sleeve; he cared and had the courage to fight for what he cared about.
