Actually a big, thick, snappy slice of raw onion is hard to beat--especially a Vidalia from Walla Walla.

Huh? Walla Walla sweets are from Walla Walla, Washington; and Vidalia's are from Georgia.

Our Vidalias are from the State of Washington. Says so right on the produce sign or sack. We likely wouldn't buy them if they were called Walla Walla Sweets. What's that?

The price of fame for the farmers of Vidalia, Georgia, is that squat, tasty, sweet onions are called "Vidalias" by local grocers in my state even if they are grown in Washington, not Georgia.
