William received his Honorable Discharge from the United States Air Force in 1965.

William joined the United States Navy... (and) served aboard
the submarine USS Tiru (SS-416),
USS Tombigbee (AOG-11),
Naval Support Activity Danang RVN,
Naval Security and Intelligence Camp Carter RVN,
Danang Harbor Patrol RVN,
Dong Ha River Security Group RVN,
USS Charles Berry (DE-1035),
Headquarters Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet,
USS Oriskany (CVA-34).

William Cooper received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Navy on December 11, 1975.

The only people I know who post to 9 commands in 10 years are narcs.

Cooper was a member of the Office of Naval Security and Intelligence

Like I said, narcs. And I've only known a couple, but they were friggin' loony. Interesting.

There's no loon like an ex-intel loon. They usually have a good reason.

NARCS in the Vietnam War... doesnt compute... How would you know about NARCS unless you are one yourself... Stop trying to denigrate this great American.

Your response is pretty lame. Note that 4 of those 'commands' were in Vietnam, which could have easily occurred in a single year, the typical tour in Nam. That leaves 5 'commands' in 8 years. One of those 'commands' was with CINCPACFLT, which in many cases are short-term (I served with CINPACFLT for 1.5 years, and the sailor I replaced served even less). Let's assume 1.5 years. That leaves 4 commands in 6.5 years, all ships, of which one was a diesel sub. That tour could have been less than a year, particularly if there was a medical problem that was aggravated by depth). Let's assume 1 year. That leaves 3 ships in 5.5 years. Very reasonable.
