Seymour's spinning. Caught in his fiction, seeing his credibility slipping away. I hope his BS is further revealed...

I don't want to get into a war of words or shading of meaning. - A bit convenient - no?
To: callisto
Hersh's source(s) should be retired.
To: callisto
Yeah, the Delta Force decided that, instead of telling their superiors in person, they'd use "respected" Flight 800 fantasist Seymour Hersh as a conduit to tell the public their mission was a flop. I'll buy that, though thousands wouldn't.

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. Franks said this weekend that no TALIBAN shot anybody, but that doesnt mean there wasnt any accidental shooting by friendly fire. If you read Black Hawk Down, it talks about these big noisy missions that Delta guys hate, and was the reason 18 boys dies in Mogadishu. It sounds like they're pulling the same crap all over again here in Aghanistan, and our boys are not liking it at all.

Good point, however, see number 6 which makes a lot of sense. Methinks Hersh is talking to cold sources and his defensiveness here is quite telling. Oh, to really know...

I'm talking about General Meyers and General Franks, and the Admiral [John Shufflebeem]. I don't want to get into a war of words or shading of meaning. Both General Meyers and General Franks categorically denied enemy inflicted casualties.
No shading in their denials.

Caught in a lie, the Joe Isuzu of the press figures the best way to go is to EXPAND the lie. 200 Rangers, SIXTEEN helos? I .... don't .... think .... so.
I don't know how many men we have on the ground in A'stan, but considering their relatively small numbers, I cannot conceive of putting 200 of them in one place.

Looks like Chicken Noodle News has found their new Arnett.

"they crawl around in the jungle or whatever, with figuratively, knives between their teeth,Does anyone think that Andy Rooney will pounce on this and insist that Hersh is an idiot, because there are no jungles in Afghanistan, the way he ranted on about Bush speaking metaphorically about "safe harbors" in a landlocked country?
I'm not holding my breath.
BTW--Is it true that the barometric pressure in Judy Woodruff's skull is so low that she experiences her own personal hurricanes?

I never, never never imagined I would think this odious thought, much less type it--but, it's too bad Pig Eye isn't still defiling the Oval Office because only then, apparently, would some conservatives put on their thinking caps and apply their critical thinking skills to this Thing we're doing in the Afghanistan Banana-stand.
To: bigdog
I can't believe those guys would shoot their mouths off.
To: eureka!
What credibility?
Hersh creates more horse manure than the average dude ranch.

Based on your summary of Blackhawk Down, you never read the book.

I believe it's clear that Hersh got caught blowing smoke. He is quoting no one who was there. No active member of Delta is going to throw a message over the wall. What garbage.

All reporters report news. To get noticed, they have to report bad news. In my limited dealings with reporters, I have noticed that they will stick with the bad news despite contrary evidence.
To: SMEDLEYBUTLER
Hersh tells CNN's Judy Woodruff: Those two names together tell ya all ya need ta know to hit the ignore button ... one's a leftist and the other is a liberal, so stupid that she has to pretend to be a reporter to get her fix of importance. The military person at the top said twelve casualties were none due to enemy fire. If a fake seal were to give Hersh an interview that the commie liked, he'd publish a story of the authenticity, and if called on it would claim if it wasn't all authenticated it was never the less true because the administration hasn't refuted it! Hersh needs to live in Afghanistancan, closer to his beloved chicoms.
