Excellent Research, my FRiend. Public Education Reform is pretty much my pet project and I'd like to talk to you more about what you've come up with once this Electioneering is finally over with. I've done a lot of research on the Richmond City Schools--actually, it's 3-4 years outta date, but nothing's changed--and believe Education Vouchers/School Privatization is an Issue that GOPers can win big on!!
"They mention caps on class size."
Perhaps the most BOGUS Issue out there, IMHO!!
"Are these determined by the school boards, the voters, or the union?"
This is totally Union-driven in a bald-faced attempt to increase their intake from Annual Dues. Good teachers teaching 30 students is far better than Mediocre Teachers teaching 20 students...and the lower the class-size, the more AWFUL Teachers you are forced to employ.
"Does anyone in the Republican party look into this stuff or is it just considered the third rail of Fairfax County Politics? How can anyone be against the children?"
Teacher's Unions act like they will Go Postal on you if you don't Mimic their ridiculous rhetoric, but as I said, I think Vouchers/Privatization is a winning issue for GOPers if they are willing to do the hard work of making the case. I told this to Jim Gilmore's face on more than one occasion and he said, "Not yet...not yet..."
I sorta like Gilmore and have voted for the man twice, but he's sorta a WIMP...MUD

The National Review is saying that Warner is extremely confident he will win with 53% of the vote...supposedly, Virginia insiders think he is lowballing the figure.
I don't know who the hell these so called VA insiders are, but I've been hearing low turnout in Northern VA and high turnout elsewhere, meaning that this will be closer than everyone thinks.

Has everyone seen this great ad on Kaine? That's quite an ad!
- Where did it run?
- How many people see something like that? I'm interested in the disclaimer that says it cost $0.00.
- How do they figure that?
- Do they get away with that claim?
This looks like a good, cheap way to get a message out. What is the liability on the person that hosts it?

Mark Warner's the most Vile, Corrupt Low-Life Socialist Scumbag to EVER Threaten to Take Over the Virginia Guv'nah's Mansion!! Yep, I heard he ain't even from around here. CT, somebody said. He always looks like he just swallowed a goat turd or something.

"low turnout in Northern VA and high turnout elsewhere" Those are the reports here, too.
The poll watchers told me it was a normal turnout, but it looked low to me- and mine is a Dem precinct.
We'll soon know (fingers crossed).

Just had a friend check in from Portsmouth, VA, he voted at 7:30 this morning.
He said the the FOP had endorsed Warner but the members of the FOP were all over the talk radio shows saying that they were for Earley.
Also changed one "Board of Realtors" vote from Warner to Earley in Northern VA last week. The Board of Realtors endorsed Warner ~ hope she pulled a few more away.

The painters have a union? I thought they were college students making some extra money.
I worked my polling place for a few hours this afternoon. The numbers my precinct captain called in at 4:00 put turn out at just over 1,000 or about 33%. It was steady, never heavy. I'd say of those who took partisan literature, the split was about even. I'm new to this precinct, but I know it voted Bush but not by much. I think 33% turnout is low. Since no tractor-trailer was overturned on the Beltway, or dogfood truck turned over on I-66, the pace was starting to pick up as I left. We had plenty of volunteers, only one Dem who'd been there since 3:00 a.m. putting up signs. I left encouraged!

Any word on turnout in Northern VA or do most of those people vote after work?
Was kind of slow at my polling place which leans democratic. I went to vote at 2pm.
my precinct leader also said it had been "light" in Reston so far.
But as MHT says many many folks vote on their way home here.
I'm suspecting light turnout as people aren't fired up either way except for the partisans.

The state FOP did not endorse Warner. Maybe he meant a local chapter.

You maybe right I'm not from that area of VA ~ reporting what he told me ~ was happening in Portsmouth.

There was one horrible (big) sign that I saw on Rt. 45. SPORTSMEN FOR WARNER This is hunting country and it makes me mad. A lot of ppl will not care about anything but what that one sign said to them. Earley is for sporstmen too. I could have snuck in one nite and used a big blk marker and said 'SO IS EARLEY'. but I think they put it up at the last minute cause I have not seen it until now. grrrrrrr......
The NRA did send out mailings to ALL Va. NRA members. It was not an endorsement, but strongly supported Earley!. Fear not. The Evil Gun Culture Crew is educated here!.

WMAL is reporting 40% turnout in northern Virginia and over 50% turnout in the Richmond area, which is a good sign for Earley. Warner not doing as well as he had hoped in southwest Virginia.

Just got back from the polls....Hope with all my heart that Earley wins but I just don't know.Whoever his campaign manager is,he's got a lot to answer for if Earley doesn't win.Earley's presence, whether in roadside placard or on rear bumpers, has been nonexistent.Earley simply hasn't had the exposure that Warner has. Hope the nonvoters turn out for a change...for Earley.

I saw it! Sheep-eeero deserves all the abuse we can heap on him. I'd like to take his bowtie & stick it ...well, you know where! Keep up the good fight!

How was turnout at your precinct? Yours should be a conservative area.
