Vanity: I was there when the Diamondbacks Made History!!! Were any of you there ???

If you thought it was an exciting series on TV, you can't even imagine what it's like to actually be there at the game. Hubby and I were there for both games six and seven, and it was UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

Only two things would have made Game 7 better:

(1) NOT having McQueeg throw out the first pitch. That was a Defcon Delta BARF ALERT as far as I'm concerned!!

(2) Roger Clemens NOT going completely psycho like he sometimes does. Hubby and I were hoping he'd be hauled off in a straight jacket and muzzle like Hannibal Lecter--LOLOLOLOLOL!!!

If you weren't there at the game, don't worry, I screamed enough for all of you!!! Happy "World Champion Monday" to all of you!!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!

What exactly are you trying to say here?

1. it's hard to shake the reputation of being a loser in professional sports, gives the opposing team even more ammunition

2. With free agency it no longer requires a new franchise to struggle through years of mediocrity trying to form a team with first round draft picks. If you have a new owner\team with deep pockets you can instantly contend

3. Greedy owners will do nothing to improve the product on the field as long as arses are filling the seats.

You're right. I think the last team to really win the old fashioned way was the Dallas Cowboys in that Hershel Walker trade. Talk about a deal! Nowadays, if you don't win, you're gone. Look at all the great NFL coaches/MLB managers who lose their jobs if they don't win in 3 years with a bad team. Their hands are tied. And people will always go to the games. But some owners are willing to lose money if it means they will win. The payroles of some of these teams are outrageous. And the disparity is growing. That is why the Milwakee Brewers will never win again under this current system. Profit/tv revenue sharing may be the answer...

That's pretty funny that Fox did NOT show McQueeg for the first pitch ceremonies!! I'll bet he's furious he didn't get to be the center of attention--LOL!

McQueeg was sitting right behind the Diamondback's dugout, signing autographs, & holding court with reporters like he was Elvis or something. TOTAL BARF ALERT.

NY news....WABC radio saying that cars were overturned and there was rioting...saying Arizona doesn't know how to win a championship. But then, that is why we hate the media so much and many of us hate the Yankees too.

what was with them playing snippets of Sinatra singing "New York, New York" after the Game Six....what was the reaction in the crowd?

The song started to play like it does in Yankee Stadium and those who noticed it all looked at each other like "Whaaaaa?" But then the song was immediately interrupted with a needle-across-a-record sound, and then "Celebration" started up.

Actually, there was so much mayhem and hollering at the time, there wasn't that much of a noticeable reaction from the crowd--we were all going completely bonkers anyway.

Think about all the people who went to the Browns-Bears game this weekend and saw the Browns leading 21-7 with less than two minutes to go, and decided to leave early to beat the traffic.

They're probably still scratching their head if they turned on the radio on the drive home and heard that the Bears won 27-21 . They must've thought they tuned in to the wrong game!

God, I love football season.

I heard a report here on the radio in Phoenix that there were some people "rocking" cars and breaking shop windows on Mill Avenue in Tempe. That's where most of the ASU students hang out and is not exactly next door to Bank One Ballpark which is in downtown Phoenix. Cops interviewed on the radio that were around the ballpark said the crowds were very well behaved and there was very little trouble.

Nope, the D-backs are not a fluke! Their owner Jerry Coangelo is NOT going to do what Huizenga did to the Marlins. Coangelo loves this state and is very devoted to the community. He owns the Suns and was very disappointed when they didn't win the NBA finals in 1993. Granted, there are some bad feelings about how the baseball stadium was financed, but those detractors are few and far between now.

This team is for real!

The Yanks are a great team - they wouldn't have been in that roller coaster ride of a series if they weren't. They wouldn't have won all those other championships if they weren't. Even Bob Brenley and many of the D-Backs players acknowledged what a great team the Yankees are. But only one team comes out on top - and this time it was the Diamondbacks!

After suffering many long years as a Detroit Tiger fan, I know how rare these championships are - and I'm gonna savor this one!

It was a blast to see them eat their words about Rivera's "effectivenes." I absolutley loved it when that cheap little hit off of Gonzalez' bat broke NY's heart!

They are not here bragging today. Congratulations.

Congratulations to your friend Mark, who had a great game and started the rally with that clutch hit to open the 9th! Considering what happened after that (messed up fielding on a sac bunt attempt), who knows, maybe without that hit the D-backs end up losing. Always liked that player.

(And this coming from a Giants fan who delighted in ending his team's season in '89...I'll never forget his and Ryno's dejected looks.... ;)
