OUR OWN MR. B. NEEDS OUR HELP TO RUN FOR CALIF. STATE ASSEMBLY!!
e-mail | John W. Brantuk, Sr.

Posted on 11/04/2001 10:54:48 AM PST by Mercuria

To My Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am writing you today regarding two very serious items:

1. To announce that I am running for the California State Assembly, District 56;

2. To let you know that I urgently need your help in this endeavor today.

Please read on . . .

Due to the combination of redistricting and term limits, there is no incumbent running for reelection in the 56th Assembly District. This resulting open seat is a wonderful opportunity for us to really make a difference in our State Government. As of this writing, there are only 2 major party candidates running for this seat; a Liberal Democrat, and me, a dedicated Conservative Constitutional Republican.

There is one pressing problem, however. We must raise the funds to pay the exorbitant filing fees (approximately $1000) required by the State of California in order to qualify for the ballot by the beginning of the coming week, as well as many other miscellaneous expenses. As I write this, we are far short of the goal.

Please note that no other Conservative Republican has stepped up to run for this open seat, and if we do not raise the funds necessary to secure my place on the ballot, we may well find ourselves in the untenable position of having a liberal Democrat running virtually unopposed for this seat. We must not allow that to happen!

Many of you have encouraged me to run for this office; I ask you now to please help make that possible by sending the largest contribution you possibly can today.

Please make your checks out to:

"Brantuk for Assembly" or "John W. Brantuk" (whichever is easier)

and mail them today, or as soon as possible to:

Brantuk for Assembly
P.O. Box 171
Whittier, CA 90608

If you'd like to make a donation immediately from your checking account or your credit card, you can also click on the following link and make it now using PayPal:

Contribute via PayPal

One last note: Please be aware that once elected it is likely that I will serve only one term in the Assembly. My actions in office will not be colored by thoughts of reelection, but only by doing what is right and what truly upholds the Constitution.

My purpose in office will not be to make friends; my purpose will be to make a positive difference, no matter who's feathers I ruffle.

Thank you for your support. I value it more that I can express.

Best regards,

John W. Brantuk, Sr.
Candidate for Assembly, 56th District
Current Chairman, 58th Assembly District Republican Central Committee
Member, California Republican Party
Phone: (562) 698-2870
Fax: (562) 698-2810

P.S. Whether or not you are in a position to make a donation today, please forward this request on to others who may be able to help. We must raise the necessary funds quickly.

Time is of the essence.

Again, I sincerely thank you.

The only way we are going to turn our country around is to support honest candidates in order to get rid of the power-hungry/do-anything-for-it jerks. This is a wonderful opportunity to get a like-minded candidate in office. After all, how much more like-minded can one get than to be a FReeper! Good Luck, Mr. B. and may you truly go.to.Washington.

I pharased it wrong earlier. No GOP POLITICIAN jumped in. Is that better?

From what gc4NRA said, this is a winnable area although tough. We almost took an East Lansing/Meridian Township seat before, and East Lansing is 65% dem, and Meridian is about half. He gave it a run though.

I may be a little skeptical, and almost to a fault because of the last race I was in. We got killed in a primary. It wasn't an issues race as all the candidates nearly agreed down the line. We had no money, and no party backing.

But I had to remember one thing. Steve Stockman won and beat a 40 year dem incumbent, and KLINTON won there.

One major question. What are campaign finance laws in California? What do I have to report with a donation?

Thanks. The last thing I want to do is cause a headache there. I'm the treasurer of a PAC, so I understand those things.

I understand your concerns.

But you know...as I said, the redistricting was just recently passed. Mr. B is going door-to-door now to inform the voters that they are in his district. Hopefully, they will hear his position on issues and choose to donate to his campaign. In the meantime, I'm using this forum to encourage fellow FReepers to help us out in California with this incredible opportunity to seat a true-blue conservative FReeper in a new district!

The Dems and sell-out variety of Republicans pushed this redistricting through in order to get power for lie-berals. (And California RINOs love lie-berals.) Obvious, seeing as in Mr. B's district there seems to be a dearth of Dems to go for the new seat, and they will count it a victory if good conservatives shrug it off.

But George...consider what happened in September in NYC. People are starting to take a harder look at lie-beral policies re: immigration, the Second Amendment, and playing footsie with foreign enemies. In a new district, Mr. B. has a very good opportunity to state his case...and a real good CHANCE at getting elected!

God protect our beautiful state from more lie-beral and RINO control! The dollars I would spend on movies for two and dinner is to me well worth the opportunity of getting a real FReeper PATRIOT in our state legislature!

If not Mr. B...who?

If not now...when?

It's time for grassroots Republicans to show what we're made of.

And the time to act is NOW!

(And of course, any assistance you lend will be gratefully accepted!)

With all due respect W., come hell or high water, Mr. B. will raise the filing fee. He will need our continued support after the filing fee has been raised and I'm sure he will garner that as well. We look forward to your donation and thanks for the support!

Certainly, I hope so. Last year, I and six others raised the filing fee for a congressional candidate in an uphill race against the most famous person ever to seek the office in our state. So, I think locals should be able to raise the filing fee. We did and we're not rich. Let me know when you get filed. I'll Paypal a contribution. It would be good for FR to start moving politically again.

You can give up to $99 per election (Primary and General) without your personal information having to be reported to the state. Once you reach and/or exceed $100, the campaign must report your name, address, telephone number and occupation.

Thanks, Merc!

We had a great day today, meeting with voters all over the district. It is phenominal the way ordinary citizens react when one speaks the plain truth to them about one's positions and about how we plan to go about making some real changes in our state and our country.

Thanks.

It's slightly easier than Michigan's laws.

Michigan - All hard money donations in any state election(State rep, senate, governor, ag, etc) are disclosed. Those over $100 get occupation and employer reported as well. Same with PAC's. $2 PAC donations are reported.
