Northern Virginians' taxes will soon rival Bergen County NJ's if Warner gets in. Get ready to bend over big time.

With Dubyuh's help Monday...Earley by 6-10%.
Without Dubyuh's assist...Earley by 1-2%.

BTW...if I'm wrong (Heaven forbid) and Warner wins...I hereby predict he SHALL NOT complete his term and SHALL RESIGN due to scandal relating to the way he made his Cell Phone fortune and the connection to Illegal Campaign Funds from the Chi-coms. Therefore, make sure you Vote Katzen as well!!

"The poll suggests Warner has gotten a major boost from broad support for his proposed sales-tax referendum to bankroll transportation improvements in traffic-clogged Northern Virginia"

How much credence do you place in the above statement from the article?

I admire Early's stance to oppose an increase in taxes statewide but it did appear somewhat frivolous of him to draw his line in the sand by saying that the local referendum shouldn't even be placed on the ballot.

It would give the voters of NOVA a chance to decided for themselves if they wished to increase their own local taxes for improvements in road maintenance/mass transit in their area. IMO, it would be beneficial to the rest of the state to allow them to make their own decisions.

Stuck at 33%?? That would be a 12-13 point drop when folks are making up their minds. This poll is garbage, IMHO.

"How much credence do you place in the above statement from the article?"

Very little...Warner was going to get the NOVA vote anyway because of the Federal BureaucRAT Infestation up there, and Earley was simply using that issue to say he would not raise taxes while Warner most certainly will--er, would were he to get the opportunity.

"I admire Early's stance to oppose an increase in taxes statewide but it did appear somewhat frivolous of him to draw his line in the sand by saying that the local referendum shouldn't even be placed on the ballot."

In reality, it is somewhat frivolous, but Warner's been LYIN' through his Teeth about his supposed Fiscal Conservatism--gimme a friggin' break--and the Medyuh's refused to call him on his BLATANT LIES!! Earley, therefore, went somewhere he knew Warner couldn't copycat him and was, IMHO, successful in differentiating himself from Warner on the issue of Taxes.

"It would give the voters of NOVA a chance to decided for themselves if they wished to increase their own local taxes for improvements in road maintenance/mass transit in their area. IMO, it would be beneficial to the rest of the state to allow them to make their own decisions."

I know, I know...in principle I agree with you, but it is disingenuous fer the DemocRATS to make themselves out to be the DEnizens of Local Control!! Richmond, VA held a referendum that wouldda allowed the City to elect an At-Large Mayor instead of using the present system wherein Councilmen decide who they're gonna call "Mayor." The referendum passed by a 2-to-1 margin then the State DemocRATS overruled it so they could continue to maintain their Corrupt Stranglehold on Local Politics...a CORRUPTION that produced Tim Kaine, BTW!!

"This poll is screwy. "

The Times Dispatch has a sidebar with background on the poll and the respondents. It looks pretty normal except for this:

"70 per cent [ of respondents] had no... [ children] living at home"

70 per cent with no children doesn't sound very representative of the electorate to me.

Virginians who live in the northern part of the commonwealth, as well as those who live in the Norfolk area already have the option to tax themselves if they so choose, voted on back in 1989. I posted the article about it on an earlier thread. Those jurisdictions have never exercised their willingness to do so. We are all Virginians, and I'm afraid Warner is trying to pit Virginian against Virginian, which is unfortunate.

In theory, we are in agreement...but when yer running a Gubernatorial Campaign against a Candidate that will LIE CONSTANTLY and tell you exactly what you want to hear just to get his slimey hands on the Levers of Power, well, I just think Earley had to find a Wedge Issue and this was about all Warner wasn't prepared to say "Me, Too" to.

BTW...I also don't think Earley's numbers took even a little hit in NOVA due to this, and it'll help him State-wide, IMHO.

Establishment Republicans with ties to big business and pro-alienists groups who are instinctively hostile to solid American values typified in Virginia's cultural heritage.

You know, making that statement while defending Warner just makes you sound like such and incredible buffoon...Your posts are a waste of bandwidth.

Yeah, call it a personal attack if you want, but we've got an election in 48 hours and we don't need this kind of crap from loonies like you.

Mark Warner doesn't give a rat's clymer about Virginia's cultural heritage.

I'm also suspicous of this poll. Just last week, Mark Earley was within striking distance, 4 or 5 percentage points of Mark Warner.

I think that this poll is in the same league with the poll that shows Bret Schundler down by 18%. It's either a poorly conducted poll, a bad sample, or was executed with malicious or partisan intent.

This race is still down to the wire -- and can still go either way. Voter turnout will make all the difference.

GO EARLEY GO!

"With Dubyuh's help Monday..."

Read my typed word Mud .( W will not campaign for Earley on Monday).
This election will be decided on how Earley does in South West VA !
Earley will win in Shenandoah Valley, Richmonds' Metro, and Southern Va > While Slick will win N.Va and Hamptons.

This poll is probably of registered voters, not likely voters and is probably thus entirely unreliable.

As Earley swung through Northern Virginia, the Middle Peninsula and into Hampton Roads, his spokesman in Richmond, David B. Botkins, dismissed the survey as "an aberration." Hmm. Earley's people have dismissed every poll so far as being "an aberration" or "a fluke." Why hasn't Mohammed(!) Eleithee, Warner's spokesman, denounced any wild polls? I think Earley's full of s— on this one.
