Taliban buried alive in mountains: Survivor

Kabul, Nov 3

"I thought I was going to die — the earth was raining from the skies," a Taliban survivor told the Sun while describing how an entire unit was buried alive in a strike by US B-52s.

Osman Rakhim, 23, said the explosions caused by the giant US bombers started a landslide on his mountainside position.

He said dozens of troops were killed when hundreds of tons of earth and rock came down on top of them.

Rakhim wandered away from the carnage in a daze and later surrendered to the Northern Alliance. He said a whole unit of fighters dug in behind him were buried.

Rakhim told the Sun: “I could not see, I couldn’t breathe. Everything was in darkness ... There were many, many bombs. The earth shook and it rained rocks and shrapnel.

“The hillside was falling on us. There were about 300 of us there dug in with sandbags. I have no idea how many were killed.

The earth shook and it rained rocks and shrapnel

He makes it sound down right Biblical. Welcome to our world.

Hmmm- 300 fighters killed? I say we kill 1000 "holy warriors" for every civilian killed at the WTC and the pentagon.

It is very important that we remember that this valiant group of soliders beat Russia back from it's borders. < /sarcasm> Welcome to the modern, real world of war.

My, my...what a horrible tale (yawn). This poor man must have been terrified (cough). Imagine having a whole mountain collapse on a group of people and bury them alive.

Maybe the brave Taliban firefighters and police officers will spend weeks digging these guys out of the rubble hoping to find someone alive.

The problem is the governments of the countries that either allow people like Saddam to get into power, allow religions to dictate policy, or house terrorists. In other words, the opposite of our Constitution.

Can you remember a US President the likes of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot?

One at a time, starting with Afghansistan....we need to put a few checks & balances in their governments.

Should have used a fuel/air! Then we probably would not have gotten the report.

FDR and Clinton might have come close had they been entrusted with the same power.

They completely forgot the bright side. They saved tons of money in burial expenses which they couldn't afford. Besides, we probably buried them deeper than they could have done themselves.

How do we gain eyewitness reports from someone so anxious to meet allah? I believe, when it gets down to it, these clowns won't resist anymore than the iraqi's. Take no prisoners. Kill them all! Blackbird.

The implications of 72 virgins waiting in heaven are simply EXHAUSTING. When would a guy expect to have any rest?

No problem. They stay virgins. That's when the "martyrs" find out they've really landed in Hell.
