Mideast Cadets
Thursday, 11/01/01
An Eyewitness News investigation has prompted the U.S. State Department to launch its own investigation. Reporter Jay Kolls discovered a foreign army training in our own backyard. Our own government did not know about the training, and the man who brought the United Arab Emirates air force cadets to the U.S. has now left the country.
Although there may be no connections to this training and the September 11 terrorist attacks, three of the hijackers had ties to the United Arab Emirates.
Eyewitness News found out about the training missions after one of the cadets had a skydiving accident.

I watched it, and it said nothing about an army. Some foreign students took skydiving lessons, and some even had some flight lessons in a little airplane.
This is hardly news, much less breaking news.
Maybe you should alert Debka, though.

Understand that the State Department can't find its own butt with a map and a nine-man working party. So, there is a lot it doesn't know about.
And don't you think the term "foreign army" is a bit of an overstatement for several cadets...???

The irony is that Congress continues to pass more laws than they can enforce. This is as bad as the farce of "Do Not Litter or $500 fine". I wonder when they'll figure out legislation will not fix things were action is needed?
To: freedomnews
Yes, they may have violated a provision regarding contracts involving foreign companies. They should have had a permit.
But there's no army who trained here. There's no terrorist training here. This is a story with arabs and parachutes and OHMYGOD the government didn't stop it last year.

what are cadets ? Allow me. Cadets are young (pre-teen and teenagers) military students. They are generally preparing for a career for formal, national military service. They are not terrorists.
This is sensationalism on the part of your local news station. The UAE is not an enemy of the West just because a couple of terrorists came from there. Has this been spelled out clear enough?
