Some have suggested she may be Nation of Islam (black muslim sect that most Muslims would consider a cult). However, I don't think even they allow women clerics. Go figure....

Just checked, no listings for "Akbar" in Rochester. That's what you get when you make up a fake name........LOL

Looking at the name and the title that goes before it "sister" you are probably correct that she is a Black Muslim. I took a quick look at http://www.noi.org to see if I could find an answer and it appears that they can be. I found the following at the end of the brief history on the origin of the Nation of Islam: "Document written by Minister, Writer, Music Composer and wife of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad --Mother Tynetta Muhammad March 28, 1996" I didn't find anything other than that one way or another. She might be a special case, but I doubt it.
