Thanks for the ping deport.
Few critics of the Bush Administration are interested in the facts concerning the real military campaign now being waged in Afghanistan. These critics are part of the "instant gratification crowd", along with the likes of Bill Krystol, John McCain, Jean Kirkpatrick and Bill Bennett. I think Rumsfeld and company will keep things straight for them.
Most American's continue to follow President Bushes lead and are going about their lives with as little distruption as possible. They understand this two front War on terrorism very well and know it requires every American to be patient, resolute, vigilant and to have courage.
After all, this conflict is all about good versus evil, and in the end, good will triumph over evil.

I let countries announce what they want to announce about their involvement in this effort and characterize it the way they want to characterize it. Rumsfeld said several very important things in this press conference and this is one of them. There are some people here who still don't understand that.
Rumsfeld is finalizing the NMD agreement which Bush and Putin will be able to announce later this month. This will be a very good, and important trip.
Rumsfeld is so much brighter than any of the reporters who are asking questions. I wish I had seen this live.
Thank you very much for the ping. I am very glad I read the entire transcript.

I am getting to be a Rumsfeid groupie. I love the way he slaps down the media idiots.
To: EricOF
That answer rocked.
To: EricOF
They are being used on front-line all Qaeda and Taliban troops to try to kill them, is why we're using them, to be perfectly blunt. His delivery of this line was wonderful. You gotta see and hear the guy in action :-)
To: Hipixs
My favorite:
Q: The United States and India are discussing a proposal -- a specific U.S. proposal to expand joint military cooperation specifically for this operation in the area of naval refueling and sea-lane security.
Rumsfeld: I'm aware of what we're doing. (Laughter.)
Q: Is that one of the issues you are going to go discuss? And --
Rumsfeld: I just said I was not going to announce the countries I was going to. Therefore, if I respond to your question, I will have just defeated my original answer, which I am not inclined to do.

I expect that somewhere in a cave in Afghanistan there's a terrorist leader who is at this moment considering precisely the same thing.
Go Rummy Go! Thanks, deport for the bump.I loved the post.

Oh, someone please, please, please tell me Rumsfeld is single!
To: Lady In Blue
Myers at one point said -" This is not a movie, to be wrapped up in an hour and a half."
Simply put for simple media people.
To: EricOF
I saw him say that, it was great. He even said the word "BLUNT" bluntly, hehe.
Today Rush cackled about how much he likes Rumsfeld, and he wonders how any member of the press who has been "slapped down" by Rumsfeld can show his face in there again.

Of all the members of the Bush administration (Bush doesn't count in this contest), RumsfeId is clearly my favorite. I even like him better than Cheney (and I like Cheney).
Condi Rice has done well. Colin Powell hasn't teed me off like I thought he would. With a few exceptions, Christie Whitman has managed to stay out of my hostile zone (I hope that that's because she isn't doing anything).
The big disappointments have been O'Neill at Treasury and Ashcroft at Justice. I can't tell you how disappointed I am in Ashcroft! And Muller at the FBI has not earned my confidence.
No one is doing so poorly that he needs to be replaced, but these are my "mid-term" report cards.
If we could only clone Rumsfeld. I think that he could do all of those jobs if there were just more of him.

Reporter: What about the ... ... the criticism from human rights organizations for using the cluster bombs, they're calling for a halt -- could you explain the tactical rationale for using them? Rumsfeld: They are being used on front-line Al Qaeda and Taliban troops to try to kill them, is why we're using them, to be perfectly blunt. ... WAA HAAAAAAAA !!!! I love it! Go DIAMONDBACKS
To: JohnHuang2; Howlin
Howlin, I saw your comment to John about the press briefing and thought I would flag you guys to the complete transcript. Heheheh!!
I have no words to describe how much I admire this guy! Like you, Howlin, his briefings are the high point of the day (unless President Bush is giving a speech or press conference). In fact, I schedule my day around press briefings, with Rummy's #1 on my priority list!!

That's because he's a blunt Chicagoan! hehehe!

Thanks for the ping, deport. As someone said, I can only thank goodness that the adults are in charge again.
