I recall a convo with a WWII Vet whose unit was alongside an Aussie unit during island campaigns in the South Pacific.

Typically his unit would subdue Japanese opponents, interrogate them and then send them behind to be imprisoned. He said once the Aussie commander asked if they could handle the interrogation and the U.S. guy said sure. The Oz commander went through the interrogation - and then when they were finished, turned to his men and said "Right, Lads." and the Aussies just emptied their clips into these guys. Not to condone this mind you, but maybe the Taliban want to think twice before stirring up the Oz military.

Just the truth of war. Pilots are often the only prisoners of war. Groud troops don't like to be tied down dealing with prisoners. How many US foot soldiers were return by Vietnam as compared to pilots. Here's a clue there were many many more foot soldiers involved in the war than pilots.

I saw this in the Sydney Morning Herald earlier today but when I went back, poof, it was gone.

,,, to my mind, the logic of this development demands a reply from the US/UK and Aussie that Iraq will be vapourised if they don't retract the jihad threat. Why Iraq? Why not? Ain't Iraq remarkably quiet thru all this, for a Muslim nation dealing in weapons of mass destruction?
