The horrific attack is quite horrible enough without obsessing on the gruesome and truly gut-wrenching way in which some of ours died.

Maybe the author was not being "gruesome." Maybe he wanted to know so that he could send a message to the media for them to think about Americans dying versus their constant reporting of the "innocent civilians" being bombed in Afghanistan.
Remember, 5-6,000 Americans DIED on American soil.
Stop whining, wake up, and THINK.

The horrific attack is quite horrible enough without obsessing on the gruesome and truly gut-wrenching way in which some of ours died. You miss the point of the topic; which has nothing to do with 'obsessing' on how people died on 9/11 but the fact that they did die a in a 'gruesome and gut-wrenching way' and for nothing but the hate-driven whims of twisted minds with 'a cause'.
Now, the liberal media wring hands and are 'obssessing' about possible Afghan civilians that have died while ignoring the horrible and totally unnecessary deaths of all who perished from being burned alive, crushed or jumping to their deaths as a result of the 9/11 attacks.
The big difference is that the Afghans had plenty of warning and a chance to stop the U. S. attacks on their country, but the Taliban refused to turn bin Laden over. The office workers at the WTC and the Pentagon, as well as the plane passengers had no warning - they just died.
Knowing about how many poor souls leapt or fell to their deaths that awful September morning is an excellent comeback to the liberal media complaints we're getting about Afghan civilian deaths. Seeking the number of jumpers from the WTC is not obsessing on tragedy but obtaining cold, hard and unpleasant facts about the manner that our people died to be used to refute those who claim that there is a moral equivalance where there is none.

we should obsess on the gruesome aspects of the 9/11 outrage because before too long the media will move on to another news story....which is why the media are freaking out over the "anthrax scare". they'd like nothing better than to have anthrax be the work of a demented homegrown monster. we don't want to stereotype the poor mideasterners who are being so victimized, do we?

I, too, must disagree with you. The members of the liberal media think nothing of pasting photographs of any Afghan child with a band-aid all over the front page of the newspaper in order to garner sympathy for the terrorists. America should see, must see, the photographs of those who jumped, and photographs of the torn limbs and torsos of all the innocents who had their lives cut short. Such photographs would be painfully graphic, to be sure, but in seeing those photographs, America will not forget.

The horrific attack is quite horrible enough without obsessing on the gruesome and truly gut-wrenching way in which some of ours died. You only think that because you europeans saw some of it.
Only ONE, count 'em, ONE! WTC victim was ever shown on US media. That was the FD chaplain, and that was only because there was a rumor that he was gay, and therefore a member of a hyper-protected minority.

Lazarus thread.
As you can see from my earlier response, it's as if no time has passed for some of us...
