"We've had 2 cars in airport parking since July. It's quite common for pilot's cars to be left for long periods"

Well now I know why the airlines are going broke, if a pilot can afford to leave 2 cars for months in an airport parking lot, they obviously must be getting paid a heck of a lot! After a few months where I park, I would let them keep the car rather than pay the bill.....

FIRE the pilot! Make an example of him!

Yes, by all means. Fire him!!! How dare he get his car stolen. That will teach him to park in the employee parking lot.

Moron...

Security at airport:"Hi,your dressed like a pilot, you must be a pilot!

Have a nice flight!

Newsflash! Pilots are checked with greater frequency than the travelling public. The easiest way to get "extra attention" at security, is to be dressed as Taliban members. The second easiest, is to be dressed as a pilot.

I. Fire the pilot.

Under the section of the contract entitled "Employees who have their things stolen shall be terminated."

It's one thing if the uniform, passport, and keys were on the passenger seat, and were an enticement to theft, we might want to visit some commensense issues with the pilot. If the things were out of view, say in the trunk, then you would be asking for him to be fired because his car was stolen.

Pilot uniforms can be obtained easily by anyone who wants to go through the trouble of purchasing one. Cockpit keys are worthless on AA, as the doors are reinforced and can only be opened from within.

I admire your "fire him" enthusiasm. Anyone who sends baking goods through the mail also deserves life imprisonment. Let's all lose all sense of proportion.

PS. a white powder was found on some donuts at Kroger. Authorities are investigating.

Heck, I've seen many a homemade Star Fleet uniform that would have NO TROUBLE AT ALL getting through 26th century security. I've seen "Klingons" so authentic-looking that they could legally marry anywhere on the home planet and nobody'd suspect a thing until the klingkids came along. Any SF convention freak or SCAdian would have no trouble at all whipping up a viable pilot uniform. Uniforms do not equal identification.

There's a really large thrift store south of Boston that get's most of it's donations from a Vietnam Veterans Organizationm, that has a fleet of vans doing home pickups.

Over the last few years I have seen a number of Pilots uniforms (real ones) and many coats from the ground crew with the airline logos on them.

Sine 9/11, on the two occasions I have seen ground crew uniforms at the store, I pointed them out to the manager and he removed them telling me they would be destroyed. I'll bet if you regularly looked at other thrift stores, you could amasss a whole collection of pilot and ground crew uniforms.

Anything of this nature is suspect of terrorism. Change the locks American Airlines and change the uniform enough to make a difference in appearance.

What was the blurb this morning about police or highway patrol somewhere stopping a car for whatever reason, in the car the people had diagrams of the Alaskan pipe line and maps of Nuclear Plants...they were released. Anyone know about this?

Also, who knew jetliners had keys? Do they carry tire pressure guages, too?

Yes. And fuzzy dice too. The keys are for the cockpit door; not the ignition.

ROFLMAO!! Thanks for the laugh!

I leave my cell phone in my car by mistake a lot. Been lucky so far. Too many things to keep track of. I'd like to think that pilots are better at that than I am, but....

If a soldier in Israel loses his gun he can go to jail. Losing that gun is a threat to national security. It seems like everyday items like uniforms and maps have become just as critical to the safety of North Americans.
