A Freeper reports.. " I just heard Anne Curry, (sp?) of NBC's Today Show give away the full name of one of our F-18 pilots aboard the Theodore Roosvelt in the Arabian sea. She was talking by phone to Matt Laurer (sp?) about operations aboard the carrier, and mentioned speaking to Captain Jeff ****** in charge of the mission. NOt to cool. I'm sure it was inadvertant, but it was his full name."

Many of us complain that the media plays fast and loose with the facts. This goes waaay beyond that.
Accidental or not, this stuff must not happen

very dangerous. Terrorists could look up the name and find out his family and do all sorts of terrible things

I don't know if policy has changed but if it has...just because they
can do doesn't mean they should!

to write to Washington Post Online and let them know how foolish and dangerous this would be to our sevicemen/s families.

Dear snorkeler,I mailed them (Lauer&Currie)and suggested that by giving the full name of one of "Big Stick's"pilots, that this could represent giving aid and comfort to "Our"enemies.I then suggested to them that perhaps they didn' consider them to be "Their"enemies!!!

Not just terrorists, or at least not terrorists of the international type. I think the policy came into effect because peacniks were harrassing and 'terrorizing' the families in a previous conflict, maybe the Gulf War?

Don't waste your time writing to the "official" mailbox for viewer comments. They generally end up being read by NBC Audience Relations, not the Today show. (If anyone reads them at all.)
Email the responsible people directly. All NBC employees can be reached at:

No. Anne Curry is of Japanese ancestry (her mother). Betty Currie is African-American.

Well they have certainly had an effect on this audience's opinion but thank you so much for the tip! Got anymore?

I posted a nearly identical complaint about a pilot's name being revealed on the Fox Report a couple of weeks ago, and the post was pulled within two replies. I am still flabbergasted. Looks like yours has lasted a bit longer.

Snorkeler, they pissed me off! Here's a copy of the email I sent to the fools:
If the family of the service person IDed by your reporter is harmed in any way now that you've given his full name on air, I will hold your network and reporters personally responsible ... and I'm a mean sonofabitch when service person's families are targeted. No, I'm no terrorist, but your network is not helping America, either. When you endanger the families of persons serving in a war zones, especially in a war against terrorist operating people in this country, you fxxk up the works. Get a damn grip, fools! Got anymore?Yup. To email anyone at ABC, first try lastname(firstletter)@abc.com, for example Joe Blow would be:
blowj@abc.com
(Hmmm, maybe that wasn't the best example to use, but you get the idea.) Anyway, they've tried to alter some addresses over time to keep the Little People like us from bothering them, so if that address bounces back, try firstname.lastname@abc.com:
joe.blow@abc.com
And sometimes they'll make it even sneakier by requiring the middle initial:
Joe.C.Blow@abc.com
Of course, most people won't know the intended recipient's middle initial, so you'll just have to send the email to all 26 possibilities at once: Joe.A.Blow,Joe.B.Blow, etc. Twenty-five of them will bounce back, but one will get through!
Last but not least, to email anyone at CNN:
Firstname.Lastname@turner.com
Note sneaky use of "turner" instead of "cnn."

I don't care who does it. FOX MSNBC or any of them. It's just plain wrong! I don't know why your thread was pulled but IMHO it was a bad call.
