You are correct that is your God and it is a 'false' God one made up in your head and a God that you have chosen to believe. Amazing that you could glean all of this from one post. Or a few posts, even. This is the sin of the reformation - loss of humility.

Six weeks prior to the disaster, the Holy Spirit forewarned our pastoral staff that a calamity was coming.
Hey, how about the disasters that happen every day in this country? What about all over the world? In my baptist church, I've so-far not heard one word about Palestinian, Pakistani, Sudanese, or Nigerian Christians being persecuted by Muslims and how we should be on our knees praying for them. Maybe the American Evangelicals need to share with them the Jabez Prayer. 15,000 murders alone in this country last year. Kids murdering kids, gays and AIDS. Mass murders at McD's and malls, and eating establishments in our not-to-distant past.

I am not an atheist, I am a Christian, but I do not believe
in a punishing, mean, vengeful God.
My God is a God of love.
I am also very tired of ultra extreme, think
they know God's will, half assed "Christians"

re : But, you are engaging in the typical liberal nonsense of 'blaming God' because we live in a sinful world of our (mankind's) own making.
No as far as I am concerned the only people who are responsible for the evil in this world are the people who live in it, it has nothing to do with God.
But we strayed from the point since I was not blaming God in the first place, what I did say was that America was attacked by Osama Bin Laden for Geopolitical reasons mixed up with some perverted religious ideas.
Nothing to do with God.
PS I love the if you disagree with me you must be a liberal attack, like the old reds under the beds.
Its wasted on me.

One thing I'm sure of though is that the GOD I know is not a MURDERER! Russianbear, I hope you read the whole article because there is no where in the article that says God is a murderer. Please read the whole post and then give a comment. I know you said your god is a god of mercy and love. Where do you get your beliefs from? Is it from any source?

With the "gift" of free will came the choice to do evil. That free will is both a gift and a curse. It is also what makes us more than just cogs in a fixed complex machine.
I tend to believe that once Jesus was sent to die for our sins God does not directly punish us anymore. He's given us the choice to choose our path with stated consequences, right or wrong. Payment is due come judgment day. Just my non-expert opinion...

Are you suggesting that grammymoon is a disruptor? I thought we were all in agreement on all topics. I guess not. Does this mean I can have an opinion that is different than yours? Or do we all have to toe YOUR line?

I have a problem with those who claim some sort of inside information from above. They're doing nothing but stroking their own egos when they claim to be God's spokesman.
I, too have the same problem. Religious egos quote and they quote and they quote scriptures from the old testament about God's wrath and destruction, but seem to ignore all the New Testament scriptures that talk about God's love and mercy. They ignore all the New Testament scriptures that state Jesus was sent to save us from the law and that he was our sacrifice and that by accepting the covering of his blood sacrifice, they were accepted into the Father's arms. But yet they want to beat everyone over the head with the fact that if they don't behave God is going to strike them dead for something. Sin destroys, yes, but generally it does the sinner in. Now they would have us believe God would kill one person for another's sin. But God's everylasting love will even take then sinner out of his own messes if he so desires God's mercy. They somehow need an re-introduction to the love of God.
In my own prayers, God has dealt with me through the scriptures and may God forgive me if I've ever used the scriptures as a weapon like I've seen them used here in this and other forums here. What I've read here from people who profess to be believers deeply distrubs me. May God forgive me if I've ever used scriptures to judge someone's state of salvation. That's not my job and I cringe at some of the messages I've read here from people who probably believe they are doing the "work of the Lord". I send warning to those people that if you hurt one of God's children, even if you are saved, he will deal with you about it one way or another. Spiritual arrogance is dangerous and please examine your own life and quit examining America and the lives of others. Like my grandma said "tend to your own knitting". I believe with all my heart that we have entered into a time where the hypocrisy and arrogance of the children of God are going to be tried and rooted out. There is no escape from this. My heart has ached for years at Christians who drive other believers away from the Word of God, the church with judgemental and painted pictures of a God that doesn't exist. Sadly, I've seen a lot of that behavior in this forum.
So for the hard of hearing: GOD IS NOT A MURDERER. HE DIDN'T KILL ANYONE ON SEPTEMBER 11. I believe his heart was broken probably more than ours at the deaths we saw because some idiot decided to commit murder.

You are correct that is your God and it is a 'false' God one made up in your head and a God that you have chosen to believe. I believe in the God of the Bible and all I can say is I hope you do not perish from this earth without knowing the "way, the truth, and the life" because we all face the judgment seat of Christ one day. Hell is a real place and I hope you do not have to spend it there because you have decided to follow your own so called "god."
It's amazing that you can divine this from a few posts. To question one's salvation through a few posts is dangerous and a case of such spirutual arrogance that is very scary. How do you know that the poster's anger is not righteous indignation? Remember the scripture about Jesus' warning not to hurt the little ones....... I think you're walking on dangerous ground and I would encourage you to re-evaluate your position.

God doesn't smash innocent laden airplanes into sides of buildings. That's the other world kingdom.

God doesn't smash innocent laden airplanes into sides of buildings. This of course, was exactly my point.
It wasn't me who suggested that he did. It was those claiming to be his followers.

Precisely! You'd be amazed at how many people don't seem to get that point. How many believers were in those planes? I believe with all my heart that God's heart was broken at what he saw man through freewill do to his fellow man on September 11.
