Inflammatory reports like this one need to be verified by other more familiar sources, before posting. While I absolutely agree that ultimately such stories need to be verified, I don't think that such verification is a prerequisite for posting, SO LONG AS WE ACT RESPONSIBLY and include the proper caveats: "This is an unconfirmed report," or words to that effect.
Unfortunately so many people are so intent on posting "Breaking News" first, they forget the "News" part.
