And let's stay active and alert. Here's a few suggestions and anecdotal posts regarding how Freepers can be a citizen army on citizen alert every time we leave the house! Here's the URL at FreeRepublic http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/553304/posts?q=1&&page=1
Some people laid on their horn and didn't let up 'till the light turned green. With the exception of those on the other sidewalks carrying signs and willing to make peace with the Taliban, those who passed by were very supportive-as in 'United We Stand' supportive.
That goof-ball with the Nixon mask and sign declaring that our involvement was 'all about oil' gave us a wide berth as he headed for the crosswalk and safety on the other side of the street.
I came away realizing that after the kick-in-the-nuts received on 9-11 that a huge resevoir of Pro-Americanism has surfaced, one that trancends all boundries- race, color, you name it. The brothers and sisters that honked and gave thumbs up to our flags and signs reminded me just how many serve in our military and that, when they see 'soldier', they aren't thinking 'sista solja', but about a loved one serving this country.
Some of those who responded to our flags:
An old woman whose station wagon could fall apart any minute-stood on her horn.
A sewer-D-rooter guy who Comwatch had fun talking to.
Many older couples driving Lexus's or pickups.
People in motorhomes.
People flying by 'cause they had the light, but still laid on the horn.
A little kid (11 or so) who leaned on his mother's horn right in front of us(we let him know he did well).
People in new cars, old cars, new trucks, old work trucks, in the far-away left-turn lane, straining to honk and see if we noticed-we did. They all honked to let us know they appreciated our message.
I'd like to thank notaliberal for this opportunity to see first-hand what is going on in the minds of my fellow Americans. A very large sample and I can assure you, the results were very encouraging.
Sorry this is so long, time to get back, Lorreta.
