I still don't get the fascination with AOL. To me, AOL is for someone who doesn't know a d*mn thing about using the Internet, and doesn't want to know.
I have NEVER used AOL, ever. I have watched my mother use it, and to me it was an abortion.

Ya know.. I have to comment on this, however seldom it might be. AOL is not for everyone, but it is a good place for others. I'm sure it probably is a good place for your mom, even if it is not what you want to use.
Thanks for the comments about XP, I'll go take a peek into the computer room and see if he's making any progress with installing it. A little while ago I had to go disable McAfee for him.

I have AOL satellite. (AOL PLUS). I live in the middle of nowhere so my options are somewhat limited. I have had many ISPs in the past. They are all about the same. I think! Windows XP looks nice. It has not locked up for several hours now. I guess time will tell how stable it really is.

I agree . I used it to become " Potty Trained " , then I moved on . Of course , I started with an 18-0-8 modem with 15 megs of ram , so there you go :) !

AOL has plenty of good features. I no longer get the techno-snob bias against it actually. All ISPs are doing their damnedest to imitate it.

The best way I can describe AOL is simply this: it's like training wheels that are *welded* to your bicycle. Wanna get rid of the training wheels? Sorry, you can't. They're always there, and you don't get to really experience riding your bike as it was intended to be ridden.
