Florence Nightingale Pledge

I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.

Remember this?

Since you've been a Registered Nurse for 40 years, you may have forgotten your pledge. My mother graduated nursing school in 1957, she retired several years ago after 40 years of nursing--20 of them in public health. I've never heard a nurse talk like you do, or a born-again Christian either, for that matter.

THANK YOU WIMPY CAT, it needed to be said.

Just because you live in a tent doesn't mean you are dirty all the time. These people have systems for keeping their lives in order. It just doesn't look like OUR lives. Good grief, some folks just have to hit us all over the head with their self righteousness.

As for whether the kids are starving or not, hunger and starvation are not the same thing. It SEEMS TO ME that the fact they are NOT starving means what we are doing is NOT just "too little, too late" but will actually prevent and alleviate suffering among these kids, who, parents or no parents, have no choices in this situation but to try to survive.
