A group of Afghan children collect packets of food aid after an U.S. aircraft completed a night time air drop over a refugee camp in Kumkishlyak in Northern Afghanistan, October 25, 2001. Afghanistan's ruling Taliban on Thursday dismissed as U.S. propaganda a Pentagon statement that they intended to poison food dropped by U.S. aircraft or provided by humanitarian groups to Afghan civilians. The Pentagon said on Wendesday that it had received information the Taliban may poison the food supplies to Afghan civilians and blame the United States. REUTERS/Vasily Fedosenko

Geez, for a registered nurse you sure are bitter and hateful toward children. Did you ever stop to think for a moment that it just might be a litte better, a little more Christian, to feed some kids even if they are the enemy? I just don't understand the cynicism. And I take pride in being in the top 1% of cynics and misanthropes.
RnMom what is your point? That there are no hungry kids in Afghanistan?

I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. Aren't kids wonderful? They are so eager to share and notice things that we as adults miss. And you're right about staging pictures with kids. The more you tell them what you want them to do, the less they do it, especially at that age...

I kinda think Jesus didn't hold a census on the children that came to Him. His Grace was extended to all children. My bad.
Now listening to: "Colored People" by DC Talk. My bad again.

I do care about those kids..but I care more about mine and my neighbors.....We have more food in a day than they'll get in a week. I don't think we need to worry about our eating enough. And I don't think our feeding them hurts our military effort. It can only help us--we need to reach out to the next generation--let's not let these kids grow up to be terrorists. I read that people want to adopt these orphans, but the UN is discouraging it, saying they should be with their culture. Hmmmmm..... Sounds disgracefully familiar to a lot of legal arguments against black/white adoptions here in the U.S.

I will repeat something a political analist said on fox when this started (you may have forgotten but this started when some Pakastani men rammed a plane into the WTC) Well there we have it.

The attitude Mom has taken is not Christian, SORRY! Ah, but Thomas, you forget that Mom gets to define Christianity. Doncha remember the "Never Ending Thread?"

The UN wants them with their own culture, but who in their culture will adopt them? Just like here some want black kids with black families, but there aren't enough black families to go around. It's sick that the UN would rather see these kids die in Afghanistan than be adopted by Americans.

It's sick that the UN would rather see these kids die in Afghanistan than be adopted by Americans. It is sick--it is truly...I just don't understand it, from an organization that supposedly "has children's best interests" in mind. Hah! I think kids need love & stability--and in the case of the Afghan kids, food--other "interests" are much lower in terms of need.

Yes... if they stay alive, and when we win the war, Christians can send missionaries over to Afghan.
If every Christian shared RnMom's attitude of "nothing will help them, they'll remain muslims all their lives"... Christianity would probably be limited to white Europeans of Middle Ages/Italian descent...
Only through this kind of compassion and persistance, can countries be transformed... South America, Phillipines, Spain, etc... all are results of successful missionary efforts...

a "goodbye" bump--got to get them in the bath, and my son wanted to type "goodbye," so here goes. Now he wants to know what a "bump" means. Hmm. It took me a while to figure that one out.... :)
