This past summer at a mendards store they found two dead stowaways in a lock and sealed container they had been in there for months. They were very ripe. I guess some just don't get it right.

Wonder if we're inspecting more than 2% of shipping containers lately.

The really scary part is that if he had been discovered in Canada, he would be free to apply for refugee status. There is also a decent chance, even in these times, he would have been released ROR and given a court date. Then even if he had skipped the date and caught later on, he probably would not be deported.

I like the open border to the US, especially for trade purposes, but I couldn't put up much of an argument if those borders went from a floodgate to a trickle.

This is good news. If they are forced to move around so clandestinly than we may be making some headway. This was obviously a key man on his way to activate a cell. Torture him untill he tells all. I don't care if he dies in pieces. Make the bastard talk.

Also. Note to FBI. Hold all containers at port. Must be opened in presence of Natl. Guard, cops, whatever.

"Mr Farid would have faced another three weeks...

That bucket would have made the container smell just like home for him!

On the upside, I'll bet the Italians will make this guy talk.

A very suitable punishment would be to put him back in the box (with his waste pail) and keep him there for... oh, maybe a year. Then turn him over to authorities.

Did this guy live on Maryland Avenue in Chicago until very recently?

Or was that a different Amid Farid?

Around the country, ILLEGAL aliens are working at ramp level, with airside security passes - just steps away from aircraft. Most of these people are hard-working Mexicans we would not otherwise bother with. However, things changed on September 11th. What about New York? Lot's of demographic differences there...

He had Canadian citizenship, huh? All his neighbors are probably declaring that he is an upstanding citizen, a swell guy, a family man, never caused any trouble, yada yada yada. Millions of Muslims also have American citizenship. Recall the article wherein U.S.-born teeny boppers whose parents had fled places like Pakistan and Afghanistan proudly declared they would be willing to die in a jihad against America (the land of their birth, whose bounty they enjoy daily)? I think all this Muslim-hugging PC nonsense needs to stop and we all need to be veeeeeerrrrry careful about trusting any Muslim. I have yet to hear a vociferous condemnation of bin Laden, al Qa'eda, et al, coming from the mouth of a Muslim in America (except maybe Mohammed Ali). As President Bush said, "If you're not with us, you're with the terrorists. T'aint no fence-sitting on this one. Our lives, our country, our freedom are all at stake, and people are tripping over themselves to soothe Muslims' hurt feelings about being "profiled" and demanding less news coverage of the alarming state of the world and more coverage of soap operas, ball games, and sitcoms. (Shaking head...)
