Letter to home from US Navy sailor describes German display of solidarity.

This is an e-mail from a young ensign aboard USS Winston Churchill (DDG-81) to his parents. (Churchill is an Arleigh Burke class AEGIS guided missile destroyer, commissioned March 10, 2001, and is the only active US Navy warship named after a foreign national.).

Dear Dad,

We are still at sea. The remainder of our port visits have all been cancelled. We have spent every day since the attacks going back and forth within imaginary boxes drawn in the ocean, standing high-security watches, and trying to make the best of it. We have seen the articles and the photographs, and they are sickening. Being isolated, I don't think we appreciate the full scope of what is happening back home, but we are definitely feeling the effects.
About two hours ago, we were hailed by a German Navy destroyer, Lutjens, requesting permission to pass close by our port side. Strange, since we're in the middle of an empty ocean, but the captain acquiesced and we prepared to render them honors from our bridgewing. As they were making their approach, our conning officer used binoculars and announced that Lutjens was flying not the German, but the American flag. As she came alongside us, we saw the American flag flying half-mast and her entire crew topside standing at silent, rigid attention in their dress uniforms. They had made a sign that was displayed on her side that read "We Stand By You." There was not a dry eye on the bridge as they stayed alongside us for a few minutes and saluted. It was the most powerful thing I have seen in my life. The German Navy did an incredible thing for this crew, and it has truly been the highest point in the days since the attacks.
It's amazing to think that only half-century ago things were quite different. After Lutjens pulled away, the Officer of the Deck, who had been planning to get out later this year, turned to me and said, "I'm staying Navy." I'll write you when I know more about when I'll be home, but this is it for now. Love you guys.

I hope all three of you reconsider. You have bummed me out tonight.

You know where to find me anyway. Take care and I'll still flag you when I see fit. OKCSub felt the way you did a number of months ago, but for different reasons; by G-d's Grace he's still here. For that I am very thankful.

#41...I have no idea what's going on, and why some of you are taking over this thread to post long goodbyes .....and I don't want to see anyone leave.....

...but Bloody Sam Roberts has posted a lovely story with picture & it's uplifting, encouraging & welcome ......and I hate to see it get off track.

"Twice within the past three weeks, I have had threads deleted from this wonderful forum, for no reason, with no explanation, and no appeal---that is fine, I understand the direction, and the concept being exhibited here---it is the same direction being heralded on the Big Four media outlets, the major newspapers and radio stations in this Republic."

Maybe it's time for the rest of us to give over the threads and discussions to the poohbahs, the sinkspurs, the _jims, the Debs, the Fred2.5's , and their ILK.

It's been so obvious for so long that I now accept that it's Desired that they get by with the taunting, namecalling, labeling, and sickening arrogance they display.

I read a good part of the "moderator" let it all hang out thread, enough to feel like puking. I'm sure others noted some of the "no-no's" that will get threads pulled, And Know who the worst offenders are. And Stated by Robinson himself. Let's time this "YANK this Reply". See how long it takes.

BTW, check the "Post Article" page where the Categories are defined. Where it used to state very clearly that "Government Corruption" was one of the primary goals and desired for exposure, it no longer does.

FR is now Bought and Paid For.

I see your point. However, a little cross talk gives this thread a bump.

Also, BlueDogDemo has quite a solid reputation and following here. So, it is newsworthy enough to flag others, or I wouldn't have done it.

I suppose I'm naive or too busy paying the taxman to draw the conclusion you've arrived at. Say it ain't so!

I understand.......I do.

It seems your friends are pulling out.....and that made you sad....

...but I wanted the Thread continued because it's so uplifting, and there's so few uplifting things going on right now.

...I'm sorry they're leaving.....and I thank you for answering me graciously.

"Has FR been told to censor the posts or has Jim Robinson's monitors been taken over by Feds?"

That SHOULD be answered by Robinson, but I doubt it will be.

Here's my quick take on the situation; FR has a Large Readership now. More folks are seeing thru and behind the curtain because of the detail work that's exposing the Logic Flaws that the in-bred elitists in the government can't help but miss.

Because it's Large now and consumes $'s at a rate that one private individual can't afford, the easy way to control the site is thru funding. That appears to have occured.

Now it's time to exercise Control.

The humous part is, the site started out with Noble Intentions. Now it's just another tool for information control. Hope to see/type to you "Good Guys" on a new Venue :-)

"Eight Traits of a Disinformationist:..."

Since you are no longer available for replies, I won't expect a response.
But just what the hell does that diatribe have to do with a letter home from a U.S Navy sailor?
Is there an implication that the letter and photo are a piece of disinformation from 'The Disinformationists?...whoever the hell they are.
If you wanted everyone to know you were leaving, why not a vanity post?
I'm confused.

Fitting tributes on a fitting tribute thread Sam. You've done nothing wrong, and I offer apologies for myself and the others. Sorry to have messed up your thread.
As an old salty dog squid myself I was very moved by what the German Navy did. Thanks for posting it.

As far as the "Eight Traits of a Disinformationist" just read it and watch the threads looking for the traits and tendencies spoken of in it. Look at it as a guide book on what to look for. You've been given some clues in post 43.
Good luck Watson and be careful out there, for verily, the game is still afoot!

I apolgize for any posting faux pas, but this is my first posting.

No problem. This has been posted a couple of times but it is definitely worthy of being posted again. I wouldn't mind a bit if this got re-posted four times a week.

The old officers were traditionalists and Imperialists, not Nazis. Hitler did a great job of subverting them and subordinating them to his will.

Navy buffs - I just read that it was the Eugen that sank the British battleship. The Bismarck is often given credit. I guess it would have been even more embarrassing to have the best British battleship of the time sunk by a cruiser.

I don't know. I read it in a book I just finished.

I think Lindemann was the ardent Nazi. He was also responsible for getting the B. sunk. He thought the Brits still had his ship on radar since his radar detectors will still showing the radiation. So the Nazi got on the radio and had an extensive phone call with Hitler. What an idiot! Well, I'm glad he did.

Here is a good read that got by the Fed censors and monitors at FR. Did it escape censor by accident because it was put under the Constitution/Conservative category rather than the Government Corruption category at FR?

Twice within the past three weeks, I have had threads deleted from this wonderful forum, for no reason, with no explanation, and no appeal---that is fine, I understand the direction, and the concept being exhibited here---it is the same direction being heralded on the Big Four media outlets, the major newspapers and radio stations in this Republic

Sir, I am in complete agreement with your assessment. Only, for me this is not a new occurrence. I recall almost a year ago now when an editorial decision was made to curtail a real investigation into the voter fraud/ballot tampering crimes of Al Gore, the DNC, and supporters. Crimes were committed and no one has been brought to justice for voter fraud in the 2000 election. At the time the investigation was occurring, no one knew how the Supreme Court was going to rule. In the end, the right man is in the White House, but the decision to inhibit the investigation reflected poorly on Free Republic, in my opinion. I understand now the reason for the decision, to prevent invalidation of either the national election or the Florida results, but it was a huge gamble conservatives here and elsewhere made to ignore the voter fraud.

I have tremendous respect for your service to your country and also to this forum. Establishing that TEG Security had the contract for security at the Murrah Building and yet they had never registered as a corporation with the Secretary of State in OK was one of the finest moments of this forum, thanks to your investigative skills. And there are so many more examples of your contributions.

But the information I appreciate the most was your impressions of Admiral Jeremy Boorda. In my opinion, he was one of the finest men to ever wear the uniform and in a decade of very few heros, he was one.

I hope you will reconsider sharing your work and wisdom with the members, otherwise, you will be sorely missed. After the election event I described I left for several months, but later I realized the webmaster makes this site work, but it is the members that make it a forum for freedom, and I could not find anything like it any where else.

It is possible it was tyhe P.E. that got Hood, the 8" shell would have been coming in at a higher arc than the 15" and could have hit the deck armor at a steeper angle.

BlueDog has spent many years in the service of his country and has a special attachment to the U.S. Navy. In my opinion, choosing this thread was more of a parting salute than a critique of the thread.
