America must return to God or be plowed under. But the people will not listen.

Why should God bless America? Three answers come to mind. I believe all are correct.
- There is no reason why G-d should. There is no reason why G-d should do anything. It's not as if G-d needs America and it's not as if any human or any nation can ever do anything so wonderful for G-d that it makes Him obligated to do anything in return. We lift ourselves up too high if we believe we can have an impact on Him.
- It is always good for us to repent of our sins. It would be wrong to point to particular sins, like abortion or homosexuality, and say that those sins caused something like this but not the sins I commit. That is presuming to know the mind of G-d. Many want to presume that G-d destroyed Soddom for the sin of homosexuality, but Isaiah tells us G-d destroyed Soddom for the sin of inhospitality. We are also told that G-d destroyed Soddom because of it's myriad of sins. It wasn't one particular sin but their unrepentant sinfulness that destroyed Soddom. Americans should be repentant, but not for any particular sin. We should be repentant for our willfulness, our sinfulness that says we can decide what we want to do and don't need any of G-d's ideas of right and wrong. Lincoln called the nation to repentance while the Civil War raged. We called the nation to repentance after Pearl Harbor was bombed. It should be a natural response.
- America doesn't owe anything more to G-d than Great Britain. We can think that we are somehow special, but the only revealed nation that has a special relationship with G-d is Israel. On the other hand, the Church does owe much to G-d. America doesn't need to do any soul searching. She is secular. But the Church is sacred. Has she been remembering who she is? Has she been standing fast beside Jesus, her bridegroom? Has she been quick to defend Him, to live as He would have Her live, to be His healing hands and feet in this hurting world? If the Church thinks that the WTC attack may have been a wake-up call from G-d then it is the Church, not America, that needs to answer that call. The 2 Chronicals 7:14 verse everyone likes to quote begins, "If my people..." (emphasis mine). That isn't a message to the secular USA. It is a message to the Church.
G-d blesses and curses for his own purposes, as He told Moses. But we who have taken the LORD's name should not take that name in vain. We should look at any event in our lives, whether the destruction of the WTC towers or winning the lottery and say, "Why me, LORD? What are you trying to say to me?" Then, of course, we should listen. Anyway, just my $.02. I'd have offered more but I don't even play the lottery.
Shalom.

For instance, do our national idols of materialism, sex and hedonism bless Him? What does God think about the trashy sitcoms and violent crime dramas Americans routinely watch on their TVs every night? Or how about the R- and X-rated movies featuring blatant sexual immorality and violence that we pay money to see? What the author writes is eerily similar to what a member of the Taliban might write.

All of those things are an unintended consequence of a truly free society. Besides, all of that is a reflection of a small, but very loud and visible percentage of our society. The vast majority of Americans are very kind, and decent people. The human spirit DEMANDS freedom, and America is the only country in the world where true freedom exists! That is why God has blessed the United States, and will continue to bless the United States!! Sorry to ruin your cynical little doom, and gloom trip!!!

Truth is amazing and often hurts, but the lady is right. Has God removed his protection from this nation? Three guesses!

Ludicrous.
Conservatives are blaming liberals for what happened ("Clearly this is an act of God, daming all of us for your sins!")
Liberals are blaming conservatives for what happened ("Clearly this is a justified act, due entirely to American foreign policy!")
Let's stop all this finger pointing amongst us: We are all American. We can sort out our sins later, it's time now to stand together as Americans.

As I see it, our Nation will not turn from her ways and once again embrace God and His ways.
No place in the Bible do I see any mention of a great Nation such as the US in the last days. Revelations speak of 1/3 of the world will perish in plagues and other desiasters during the tribulation.
I see no way that the few of us can save our Nation and that means, although we will pray for our Nation, the wicked will prevail. As Christians it will be everyone for themselves to concentrate on our walk with God and OUR own salvation. There is nothing else we can do for anyone else.

So very true and I would like to add that the reason we have been blessed in this country is because God has geiven us favors simply because we have stood fast with his choosen nationm, Isreal. When we throw them out of our favors, we will no longer receive blessings from our Lord.
