The law suit was filed in August 2001 in San Diego; the legal muscle is being provided by Thomas More Center out of Michigan. We had a news conference when the suit was filed, complete with hostile press. Planned Parenthood called us a bunch of names including "extremists". I have a history of skin cancer and my mother died of cancer. I wish I had known about the LINK between sun exposure and skin cancer so I could have protected myself. Now that I know, I can take precautions. The other two plaintiffs have had abortions and are angry because they weren't given all the facts; they worry about developing breast cancer. If we are successful (and many believe we will be!), it could change the future of abortion. All we are saying is women should be given ALL THE FACTS in order to make an INFORMED DECISION. Why is that so controversial?

Great job! Now let's think about this: our court system held that it's legitimate to sue cigarette manufacturers if you use their products and develop cancer even though there's a warning label.

In this case, the abortuaries are covering up the scientifically determined link between breast cancer and abortion. Seems like an open and shut case to me.

Go get 'em!

Good God, whose idea was it to sue in Calfornia? If you want to set a legal precendent do it in Utah or someplace with fewer liberal state and federal judges.

P.S. But I do admire you for your willingness to be a plaintiff.

Good on you Saundra ! And best of luck !

Have you and your legal team considered that this may be "THE" case that goes all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States to test the leality of Roe v. Wade ?

a link between abortion and breast cancer

I didn't understand the link at first. I thought it was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. Then I read, that in pregnancy, certain hormones are surging through a woman's body. When you have an abortion, it affects those hormones; you completely throw them out of whack. This does damage to the body because it is such a severe change. This in turn can cause breast cancer, because some types of cancer are hormone-dependent, or hormone-induced. That's my take on it, in a nutshell.

Maybe someone can post the actual correct info.

You know I am AMAZED that Planned Murderhood can give medical advise on such an operation and not get sued for such a practice unless they are all doctors.
