Not only did Gere get booed, but when Susan Sarandon recognized Mark Green in the crowd and said "he is the man who will rebuild New York" (an obvious campaign plug which was WAY out of place, IMO) the crowd booed HIM. She looked like a deer in the headlights! She was totally stunned that the booed.

It just goes to show how out of touch they really are!
