Your points, however, have been echoed here on FR for years.........and can actually go a long way toward explaining why there is an "FR" in the first place.
I'm rather notorious for saying here, on a regular basis, that "we've become a nation of idiots". In truth, we're a woefully under-informed nation......and an equally-woefully under-educated people. There is a difference.
Our school systems, collectively, are a travesty. Our heritage, our Constitution........hell, our history as a nation.........aren't being taught any longer. Political correctness reigns on campuses across the country. Major media outlets are owned, run, and manned by leftists spewed forth by these Socialist-leaning institutions of indoctri......er, "education". Judeo-Christian thought, teachings, and beliefs have been eradicated from anything resembling a public forum, and we have lost our "moral center" as a nation. With no anchor, no surprise the ship of state goes adrift.
The average Jane or John Doe goes to work (yep; both of 'em any more), comes home whipped, sits down to a meal of fast food, and catches 30 minutes of Brokaw or Jennings or Rather or CNN......and actually believes that he / she is up to speed on the issues of the day.
That's why you see the apparent idiocy that you see; that's why you see the population doing such incredibly stupid things like elect a Clinton (either of them), etc.

I agree. I substitute teach a lot, and I have noticed the huge amount of "multiculturalist" and "diversity" material that is littered throughout the textbooks. Furthermore, multiculturalism is now being pushed in the form of school performances and assemblies. I agree. It appears that we have lost our moral center. As a young adult, a mere 24 years old, it seems that I have seen my country slip away in a span of about ten years. However, I do know that our country, in this regard, has been deteriorating over a longer timespan. It's a shame what has happened. However, according to the Word of God, a country that shuns God will not reap His blessings.
