Madison School Board Recall Lands Crosshairs on Keys

Organizers of a recall effort have dropped Madison School Board members Calvin Williams and Carol Carstensen as targets and are focusing solely on Bill Keys.

The group intends to delay gathering signatures against Keys until November so that his recall election would coincide with the regularly scheduled spring election April 2, said Bill Geist, a district parent and a recall leader. That would spare the district the cost of a special election, pegged in excess of $75,000.

Even the taxpayers (the few sane ones leading this effort, that is) tailor their effort to save $75,000. How much you wanna bet the school board itself has in the past approved spending this much just to stock the school health rooms with condoms?

Bill Geist, the parent leading the recall, is quoted in the article as saying that the reason they're dropping the other two from the recall is that they are both up for reelection in April, 2002 anyway and that "I would be floored if these two could win in April."

"I would be floored if these two could win in April."

And after they boot Carstensen and williams in April, the others will be eligible for recall.
