In defense of Rather -- which I am sure I will be flamed for -- I do believe this has shattered him. The proverbial "chickens (liberal drivel) coming home to roost," as it were. I think he has a "new outlook" on life, IMO.

I can't figure Dan Rather out. Early in the Clinton Administration he wrote an article highly critical of Clinton for announcing the opening of trade realtions with Viet Nam on the date of the Tet Offensive.

He was quite upset about it. It was published in the National Review. I have come to the conclusion that he isn't really liberal....he is just plain nuts.

Dan Rather is a caricature of a reporter. I think he has done immense damage to the country by his selective reporting and his attacks on conservatism.

One of my favorite childhood memories was seeing him get slugged in the stomach on the convention floor in 1968. I'm glad to a video of that glorious moment is now available on the internet.

I will applaud greatly when he leaves the set of CBS News the final time.
