Oh boy long story here. Going back months. Short version, Before 9/11 the fdny was in contract negoations. Von Essen had just recieved votes of no confidence from rank and file and chiefs unions. He is not a popular man. Also he did something to the chiefs moving them from different posts to new duties. Well almost all that he moved are now deceased. In the words of my husband the FDNY is a chicken running around without a head. My husband called from the concert right after that happened, and said well now we know when Rudy goes so does Von Essen. Hope that clarifies something...
