Whatever you do today, have fun doing it!!!!
..... The Theme from the Titanic ... YIKES!!! ... how tacky can you get? ..... did they play the music from Pearl Harbor too ..... nothing like a little mood music to inspire confidence on the cruise!
..... Last night FR went down for a while and I went over to the Yahoo chat. There was some real bozo there (many suspected that it was Eschoir) who was ranting about the people on the cruise being cheated because Horowitz didn't show up ...... he was also saying very ugly things about JimRob ..... if it wasn't Eschoir, it was definitely one of his ilk .... Ugh!
oldngray ~~~ last night when I returned from shopping, I posted the words from a bumper sticker I had seen ...... in case you missed it, I'd like to repeat it .....
To err is human
To forgive, divine
Neither is in Marine Corps policy.
..... While I know the part about forgiving doesn't apply to you personally, I thought of you when I saw the car, which also had several other assorted stickers on it making it obvious that it was owned by one of The Few, The Proud.
Chairman ~~~ if you gave us a report on how your meeting turned out the other day, I missed it. Did it play out like you projected that it would?
Mozie ~~~ I found a few extra hugs laying around .... thought I'd send them to you in case you're needing them .....
.....***HUGS***
To ALL ~~~ hope that you all have a great day! Keeping you in my prayers!
I have thought about The Bear and the Dragon ever since President Bush met with Putin in Genoa.
Actually, when news is slow, The Coopster re-reads those books looking for technical information. Ha!
After this year, however, I don't know how Clancy can come up with a plot line that is more fantastic than reality.
But I had planned this 4 months ago......and dittomom & Molly & I were looking forward to being there, as we've known each other for 2 years.
Truly, after 9/11, I had many moments of doubt & hesitancy............
...but I'm glad I went....
AND I'M GLAD I'M HOME :)
Horowitz cancelled at the last minute.....All I know is that he has a health problem that was unexpected, and serious......he said.
JohnRob cancelled too.
BobJ & the others tried hard to make it informative & interesting.....and it was.
And I got to meet some lovely folks.....like Mr/Mrs. Interesting Times..(a lovely couple)...and Reagan Girl.....and Counter Counter Culture.....and Mr.Taxman.....and Nick Danger.....MsAntiFeminazi.....and of course, Gene McDonald & his lovely wife......and BobJ & diotima......and DixieSass....and others.
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEARIE!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope it was WONDERFUL!!....like you are :)
At my table for lunch a couple days ago.........several of us..(just having met each other)...were yakking away about where we were from...etc.
I noticed 2 youngish..(late 20's,early 30's) men at the end of the table & felt we were leaving them out of the conversation.
They definitely weren't calling attention to themselves.
So I asked them if this was their first cruise?
One said 'Yes', but that his buddy had cruised before.
I noticed the first one's accent..(Nita :) ...and asked him if he was from New York?
He said 'yes' and his buddy laughted & said that accent always gives him away :)
Then, I proceeded to ask if they were from New York City, and one said 'yes' the Broncs .....and I asked if they were involved in what happened ...as helpers.
So then they admitted they both were New York City policemen, and had indeed been part of the rescue & recovery detail......and even the limited info they told was pitiable.
One guy's eyes looked absolutely haunted!!!
They said they had to get away for a bit....and decided to go on this cruise. (they probably got a good rate, as I think some folks had cancelled at the last minute)
These two guys were very gracious & nice, but I could tell they didn't want to talk too much.......so we let them eat their lunch & tried not to ask too many questions.
Just thought you all would find that interesting.
It's good these men took the time to get away from things, and from experience I say they probably had no desire to talk about what they went through... or what their friends experienced.
kay... thanks for thinking of me. My recent trip to Parris Island brought back lots of thoughts and memories of "The Few and The Proud". There is a lot of patriotism being shown now. As I left the Hardees a few moments ago an old gent was exiting his car. While doing so he was adjusting his baseball style cap on which was embroidered "W W II Veteran". Neat!
MM... thanks for the recommendation on the book. Enjoying it, but Clancy will come up with another. He thinks "outside the box".
What fun, reading about the Three Freepermuscettes Ocean Searfaring Adventures!!!!!
I am anxiously awaiting the photos ... any limbo-dancing moments?! HAR!
I must tell you, I have spent these days so very proud of you all for not canceling ... and continuing on with your lives ... and it does not go without notice that ~~~ even on a big boat in the middle of a big ocean you are still doing His work ... and ministering your very own special Guennie-bear Christian love. *grins*
I think today's parents have a remarkable opportunity to roll back, nearly completely ... the sickening immorality and situational ethics which has bogged us all down these past 25 years. What a miracle ... bin-bombed didn't just open up a can of worms ... he was after unleashing the Angels of our better selves ... HA!
I
spit
on
him
*grins*
...but is it not a sad reflection on the current generations that it took something like 9/11 to do this!?
Guennie and Molly - loved spending the week at sea with you two and I promise never to divulge all your beauty secrets!! ;o)
Really, you ladies are the best and I wouldn't have changed a thing about the week - except that I should have listened to my mother-in-law and started taking those motion sickness pills the very first day! They really helped me handle the waves when the captain started trying to make up for lost time.
ALL - We did NOT miss a thing by not having David Horowitz there. He is having surgery and has promised to make it up to us at a later date. We learned plenty while we were there and got to know and appreciate one another even more than before. This cruise was a fantastic idea and we will definately have another one sometime in the future. If anyone wants to know how the cruise went, or has any questions about it - be sure to listen to someone who was ACTUALLY on the ship!
I also have more to post and pictures as well, but I'll probably not get to it for a day or two. For some reason, my family missed me and would like me to spend this beautiful weekend with them. Sounds like a plan to me!
Cheers everyone and enjoy your weekend!
illstillbe.....the good Lord willing, I hope to stay home/stay put for a while!!
oldngray..........I understand what you're saying....and that's why I tried to 'pull back' from the conversation & communicate that to the other folks too....
...I felt guilty for invading their space....and later saw them again, and apologized for opening up the conversation for all those folks to start asking questions.
Again, they were gracious, and very, very kind, and in retrospect, I think they somewhat needed to talk a little............and we certainly told them it was an honor to be at the same table with them!
Took him to a wholsesale nursery this morning. While he rides in the cab with me ... I hooked him up in the bed beneath a large Oak tree while I went shopping.
If you have never been to a plant wholesaler before ... you should know they are huge ... acres and acres of plant products ... rows and rows ... heaven on earth for me, they are.
As I was about midway through my list ... over the calm, clear autumn air came this long, low HOWWWWWWWWWWWWL ... to be repeated again ... and then again ... but even deeper and longer.
I returned as quickly as I could to my pup in the truck ... he was standing ... stretching high ... fully regal ... his paws on the hood of the car ... staring out ... readying to belt out another one.
He saw me ... gave me a satisfied "harrumph" and then plopped ... all 230 pounds of him ... on the floor of the bed ... as if to say ..."Do not think of doing that again" LOL!
So I took him with me for the rest of the spree ... he mingled with the trees and bushes ... long, white, fluffy tail swaying to and fro ... what a sight ...HAR!
dittomom, hey girl!...glad you 're home safely!!!
Enjoy your family!!!...
..(& don't you dare give away my beauty tricks....ha ha ha, and remember ONLY flattering pictures are to be posted :)))))))))----I better not find anything on this forum of me in curlers & coldcream!!!!
Thirds, thought you would like to be included too :))
Please see my present vanity on the board."A PC Nation Cannot Survive Amoungst a World of Aggressors". Key words: Capitulation, Suicide. I would very much like to hear your comments and contribution. Thanks.
Indeed it is, oldngray ... shows you how very low we had fallen ... December 7th was many things ... but it wasn't a wake-up call to morality and Patriotism.
You three, and all the others, should not feel at all guilty about continuing with your plans to go on the cruise. You were helping the economy ..... just think of all the people who might have lost their jobs if everyone had cancelled trips and other activities.
Besides that, we all need to get away from the heavy doses of coverage and the total absorption with the current situation at times. It gives us more perspective.
Think of it this way ..... did your going on the cruise in any way affect what was going on in NYC ... or DC .... or with our government and military? Obviously not.
But it did help to strengthen some bonds among people ..... and this country is re-learning the importance of that in a big way.
I see your continuing with your plans as an act of patriotism .... and am so glad that you all followed through ..... :-)
And I am eagerly awaiting pics and all the little tidbits that you recall and tell us (beauty secrets? ... no way! Freeperettes are beautiful inside and out!!!).
