HILLSIDE, N.J. (AP) -- Police on Friday found a truckful of fertilizer that had been reported stolen earlier this week. Hillside police found the trailer parked on the street in an industrial park Friday afternoon, Parsippany Sgt. James Storms said. Police had located the cab from the stolen tractor-trailer in Elizabeth on Thursday.

One load off our mind!

I'm just waiting for all the "Nothing to see here, move along" posters to acknowledge that there indeed was nothing to see here.

I'm just waiting for all the "Nothing to see here, move along" posters to acknowledge that there indeed was nothing to see here. Allow me, then. You think things like this weren't stolen before 9/11? Of course they were! And they'll keep being stolen. There's a market for fertilizer and pesticides, here and elsewhere. The reason they ditched it was because the trailer and load were too hot to hold onto.

They really got their sh*t together.....

Perhaps there wasn't, this may have been a run-of-the-mill theft, but after 9-11 nothing in this genre is run-of-the-mill. My opinion is still that "business-as-usual" is a dangerous position. So is mass hysteria. The answer is "heightened awareness".

Yep. The same goes for the 700lbs of explosives and blasting caps that were stolen in texas. I thought it was probably a bunch of bubbas, which it turned out to be.
Anybody that pulls the kind of thefts that might fuel a terror attack is going to be in for a big surprise when they realise every cop in a 200 mile radius is going to be looking for them.

The reason they ditched it was because the trailer and load were too hot to hold onto. Probably, more importantly, too hot to sell.

Allow me, then. You think things like this weren't stolen before 9/11? Of course they were! And still are. The quartermaster of my VFW post is the safety officer of a mid-sized commercial trucking company. He just got back from Cali, having to pick up one of the company's trucks that was left on the side of the road. The driver, now no longer with the company, decided he wasn't getting paid enough, so he pulled over one day and sold boxes of frozen steaks out of the back of the truck to supplement his income. He had sold 137 boxes of USDA Choice ribeye steaks for $20 a box before an undercover cop bought Lot 138 and arrested him.

Thanks for the ping. Great news, isn't it? So glad they found it. Now it would be good to nail the perps in case . . .they are terrorists. But it doesn't sound like they had any means to transfer the stuff to other transportation or it just may have been generic thieves. Would be nice to know.
