Sigh, wanna bet that somebody on the janitorial staff spilled some scouring powder, or somebody fumbled a packet of sweetener meant for their airport restaurant coffee. If it isn't a deliberate hoax.

Of course, only because this site is going down at 1 a.m. PST, and we'll never hear diddly about it anywhere else till morning!

Terminal at LA Airport Evacuated
.c The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES (AP) - More than 2,000 people were evacuated from a Los Angeles International Airport terminal for more than four hours after the discovery of an unknown substance that ended up being dairy creamer.
The evacuation forced flights departing from the terminal to be halted for two hours, and arriving planes were rerouted to another terminal.
The plastic bag containing the substance was discovered in the area where passengers pick up their luggage, said airport spokeswoman Gail Gaddi.
She had no information on who made the discovery or how many flights were affected.
Passengers were allowed to return at about 12:20 a.m.

This is EXACTLY what terrorists try to accomplish.
Disruption, fear, and panic.
It gives them the win.
It also gives the fed exactly the excuses they need to push
through the legislation they had waiting in the wings.

My neighbor's mail is practically spilling out of her mailbox because she's afraid to open it. Some people should NOT watch television.

Which, in my opinion, is still unkown, or at least unidentifiable. It's easily identified. You see it all the time: Plastic...

What about that spray-on snow people put on their windows for Christmas? Can you imagine if those were tampered with? Or air freshener. All it would take is a few incidents to cause these industries to plummet in sales. Remember the Tylenol poisonings back in the eighties?

We are beginning to see the first vestiges of mass panic that can very well paralyze the nation and bring it to its knees.
And all it takes is a little bit of anthrax mailed, and then followed up by any kind of powder mailed or spilled.
And the DELIVERY MECHANISM of the terrorist's weapon of mass destruction (mass panic) is in fact, OUR OWN U.S. KNEEJERK MEDIA WITH A CUB JOURNALIST-LEVEL OF QUALITY .
They have GOT! to make new groundrules that "powder discovered" is NOT news...anthrax discovered is. I am concerned we may crumble from within over all of this. Terrorists could well be having a field day laughing and watching all of this sick humor and Congressional Flight in Fear on NBC, ABC or CBS held up in whatever run down Motel 6 they are in some state.....

Is it possible a strategy has been implemented that has terrorist sympathizers intentionally placing dairy creamer and other inert "white powders" at strategic locations to spread fear and disrupt daily life?
Or are the 2,000 plus false alarms all people overreacting to common everyday occurrences?

Offer to help her go through it. Demonstrate the correct way to behave (i.e. no panic!).

Same thing happened at BWI yesterday. Shut down one of the piers for a couple of hours because of Cremora on/near a trash can. People are becoming unglued and are not acting rationally.
I work at Johns Hopkins. Since last week, our Security office has logged over 115 calls reporting suspicious white powder: no stuff leaking from envelopes or packages, or even a baggie full of powder: just white powder, like powdered sugar, Cremora, paper dust, cleaner, etc found in bathroom stalls, near copiers and coffee machines, on countertops.
Guess what? The terrorists are winning because our feminized, sue-happy society has everyone thinking irrationally and worried about covering their butts.

I know. I feel like screaming at the top of my lungs, "How many have died?" I am sorry to be so insensitive, but more people choked to death on hot dogs yesterday than have succumbed to these now ubiquitous attacks.
I am not trying to downplay the seriousness of the attack (which I think deserves a nuclear response just on principle) but they haven't been effective at all from a kill-ratio standpoint. It is all a diversion and denial excercise. The press is playing right in to their hands.

"unknown substance that ended up being dairy creamer." I laughed OUT LOUD when I read that!!!
HUMOR is an important weapon in America's arsenal to defeat the islamofascists!!! And I agree with other posters that "discovery" of white powder should not be news--only real anthrax.
