How is posting the most direct statement in the bible on the subject going off on a tangent? In case you missed it, here it is again:
Matthew 24:42-51: "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come"
It also says "44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh."
Which is stating that in fact the Son of man will come not when you think he does, but when you think he isn't going to. Which would be an even more direct reason why you should not waste your time trying to figure out when it is. Be ready always! If you are, it won't matter when He comes.
So once again, how is the most direct statement on the subject going off on a tangent? And how is beleiving that ignorance? If anything, I think ignorance would be not beleiving the Lord, and thinking that if you try hard enough you will know when he comes, when in fact we have been told directly, on this subject, that WE WILL NOT KNOW. And furthermore, that He will come not when we expect him, but when we don't expect him.
