Wardens Investigate Large Fish Kill in San Joaquin River

Fish and Game wardens are investigating a huge fish kill in the San Joaquin River near Lathrop.

A fisherman discovered thousands of smelt, sturgeon, striped bass and salmon dead in the water and alerted authorities.

Officials say the fish have not been dead very long, but it is not obvious what killed them. The dead fish are located just downstream from a number of large industrial plants, and in an area that is subject to the outflow from farm fields. Investigators also point out the dead fish are in an area where treated waste water flows into the river, but they say fish kills in the area are very rare.

Fish and Game wardens are asking boaters to stay out of the area until they determine what killed the fish.

I have no reason to suggest an overt hostile act, but I will advance a possible evolution in political thought.

I recognized in 1976 how the honorable, hard work, and simply straight forward efforts of one generation, rendered to advance the cause of others in future generations isn't always received in that light. In fact, a following generation, of even similar ilk, is likely to completely destroy and lay waste to previous hard work simply out of carelessness and apathy. This gave me cause to respect organized systems wherein the participants "rebuilt" the wheel to a certain extent, so that they had some intuitive ability to value the worth of what they controlled.

I recognized in 1985 that other younger generations, again of similar background, potential, and ilk respectful of patriotism, viewed open expression of thoughts in an entirely different fashion than their predecessors. The Politically Correct philosophy seemed to arise from nowhere, yet was prevalently held and migrated into policies and culture throughout our society.

I recognized in 1992, that whereas a previous generation would have never considered homosexuality as anything but perverse and condemnable, now simply considered the issue an "alternative lifestyle".

I recognized in the early 90s that a US President and political party could evolve to the point that blatently unconstitutional behavior could be institutionalized and promoted in the US by it's leaders without being fully held accountable by our governmental checks and balances.

Today, I recognize generations have been bred under a leadership which based their ethic upon the principle that "character doesn't matter", Liars are successful, and all religions are comparative.

When I evaluate the activities of the WTC attackers, I don't identify religious zealots who adhere to a fundamental ethical morality with simply a grossly mistaken zeal. I observe a very real possibility that a younger generation raised on the observation of the Clinton Administration's successes were due to tactical manipulation of events without any regard for truthfulness or character.

If that generation lacks the resources to advance their fate constructively, has been trained to act as God, but refuse to accept humility, love, or grace, then I observe a new political dynamic arising.

I observed last month, an Arab in the US who was sporting obvious gay apparal, in a macho fashion and I gleaned the impression that this fellow was the type who wouldn't mind joining gay society as a leader, perform any heinous act to give himself pleasure and even possibly blend in with those he hated the most, simply to gain an advantage to strike out at them when he had the best opportunity.

The threat I consider most substantial is a political dynamic wherein enemies of the US enter throughout our society with this common political belief that character doesn't matter, so long as they can effect the most damage to their enemy at an appropriate place an time. This form of 'terror' would be much more dangerous than simple 'Che Gueverra' tactics, but it seems to be a naturally evolving target.

The consequence of "terror" campaigns to erode the public's confidence in an established order would be further exasberating to a public if the acts are coming from disparate avenues. All such a scenerio would require would be less than 1% of non-governmental organizations to be populated with such moles.

Environmental groups already have some extremists, although the vast majority of their powerbase is from 'well-meaning' folk. If such a 'terrorist' act occured, groups like Earth First would be first targeted for identification with the acts.

My real concern is that this seems like a plausible political dynamic which might be a natural evolution for the generation which grew up under Clinton for the last 8 yrs, believing character doesn't matter, but who seek to change the world without the power or authority made available to them institutionally.

Careful, this is the land where the fairy shrimp and Fresno rat have protection greater than human beings. Ecomaniacs will take this ball for a touchdown (regardless of the cause) if the secondary does not have good zone coverage.

So is a wave breaking!

In the simpliest of cases it could be a disolved oxygen problem caused by excess nutrient loading into the river, however everyone, especially the ones who utilize industrial chemicals, pesticides, etc. are supposed to be on high alert!

The FBI states the above incidents "are unrelated and isolated, and are not connected to 9-11 terrorist attacks."

I sure wish I could have my long threads back. I hate all this CLICKING AND SEARCHING.
