I implore people to read as much as they can of the Koran, the Hadith, and the life of Mohammed. None of them are difficult to understand, or particularly subtle, as Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian and other religions have been. Islam is a very simple and crude religion, even tho it has had many many centuries to develope.
Averroes and Avicenna, the alogorithm and the zero, do not cancel out the crudity and the hate of Islam. Scientology itself one day will build a magnificent structure.
Even a non-religious person must feel a deep kinship with true religion. It is nothing more than being a human.
Most comparisons with Nazism in our age are exaggerated and simple-minded and mere epithets. Yet, in Islam, there is the perfect comparison with Nazism. Nazism used the veneer of religious ritual -- the signs, the symbols, the rules, the "submission" -- to convince an ethnic group of the divine justification of their hate and cruelty. So too, Islam.
Those who posit the weakness and humiliation of Germany as factors in the rise of Nazism, anticipate the similar reasons for the rise and continuing hate animating Islam. The Arabs as a culture are no more advanced today than they were in 700 ... they are constantly humiliated by their innate weakness and crudity, and like all those who are in over their heads and feel it painfully, they can only strike out, using violence and intimidation.
Those Moslems who understand that Western values are the values which would most inure to the benefit of their countrymen, also realize they are literally risking death if they ever said so in an explicit way.
That is because Islam is a crude, absolutist "religion," wielding death to all "infidels."
No one converts to Islam, except those who are coerced, or those who embrace the hatred, anger and cruelty Islam offers them.
