As a Marine who served 1981-85, I can verify the truth of this article. I had to go to the armory every month to "clean" my M16A1 rifle, but I only got to shoot it once a year if only because every Marine must requalify as at least a marksman every year with the designation sharpshooter and expert if you were especially good at it. (If you had a buddy working in the "butts" for you, you probably got a "paper" expert rating).

Even on the yearly trip to the range however, we were contantly being badgered with needless "safety" regulations. For example, on the range, we had to have flourescent "T-squares" in the chambers at all times. We were only allowed to remove them once we were in position to shoot. After we finished shooting that particular round, we had to immediately insert the T-squares back in. Also, we had to keep our rifles pointed downrange at all times (even with the T-square inserted). They were so ridiculous about this that as we walked onto and around the range, we had to rotate our bodies around the rifles so that they would always be pointed in the "downrange" direction. Any deviation from this would result in immediate ejection from the range and disciplinary action.

Now some here may say "what's the big deal with that." Well I'll tell you. It made us all paranoid. It didn't make us comfortable with the weapon at all. In a war situation or even a high alert situation, we need to be comfortable with toting around a loaded weapon. Flourescent T-squares aren't going to cut it on a battlefield.

I was traned on the belief..if you need a Safety on your weapon, you either don't need that weapon or aren't smart enough to operate it.

"along the way, that trust disappeared"

Military are not the only ones that used to be trusted.

IT IS TIME FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO TRUST THE PEOPLE.

They don't have a round in the chamber and, in most cases, they don't even have a magazine in their weapons.

Words fail me. "Pathetic," imbecillic," and "Asinine" do come to mind, however.

But see, we're so brainwashed into believing guns are dangerous in and of themselves....

I went to return a .177cal airgun to Wal Mart the other night, (not powerful enough) and the CSM wouldn't even take it out of the box to make sure it was in returnable condition. "I don't touch guns" she said. Nicely brainwashed little teenage girl. Hubby and I just stood there with our eyebrows raised and biting our tongues. Next time I won't hesitate to speak. At *least* I'm going to say "well, they've succeeded in brainwashing *you* haven't they?"

It's true my friends, every damm word of it. I was with the Army Guard for over 20 years. Active or Reserves, its all the same, the Army has been taught to be just as afraid of guns as the civilians are. Do you realize that they do not even train bayonet skills now? I think there is one basic training post that will still teach the bayonet, (Ft Knox). For years, years!, commanders were not allowed to issue the bayonet, someone might get hurt. God help us all.

Maybe we need to get into a shooting war and clean out these service school wonders and get back to real Combat Commanders.

It really dose'nt matter how well you give a 5 paragragh OP-Order, if you don't have the hair on your a$$ to close with the Enemy and Kill him!

I wish Hack would have his OWN show on Fox News Channel. He could call it THE FOXHOLE....or something. I get his newsletter and go to his great site several times a week.

What ticks me off is when he is on others shows they ( the lib guests/military loathers) cut him off right in the middle of his sentences and what Hack has to say is the ONLY thing that should be heard when they want guests to discuss our military.

Thanks so much for this thread JH !

God bless you Hack!

--earth to hackworth, earth to hackworth, come in please.

This de-balling the US is THE PLAN, man, it's been going on for a few decades now, slowly but surely, two steps forward, one back, but always over time forward. the NWO plan is to replace the us with a global government, they can't do that until the us military is totally filled with UN order takers who support and work for the UN, or some such other type org.

These seemingly "stupid" orders that make no sense to be unarmed during critical times is part of the deal to gradually weaken the us forces until one day the global coup is accomplished by stealth. it's WELL over half way there, now, too, IMO. Slow, plodding, don't raise too many alarm bells. This isn't idiocy on the global goons part, it's for-real traitors or global citizens of the world with no patriotism except to themselves and money and power, in very, very high international positions. some are public figures, some are not. "They" want complete and total order followers to the point of absurdity, well and beyond military effectiveness and cohesion. The politicians are puppets to these guys and cartels. They give the orders. Nothing is really an accident. It won't happen one day overnight, they don't want any military revolt in the US, it will happen as you can see it happening right now. A stupid order here, go invade some stupid country over there, play political correctness, promote the moron un-thinkers, develop a herd of mediocrity as SOP, don't let the troops really train, get them spread out all over the planet acting as mercenaries more or less - differnt "things" that apparently serve no useful self defense reason, but are practical if you want to rule the world. Mass illegal immigration, no borders, terrorists allowed to roam free-this is an ACCIDENT? On and on, step by step by step. It's being done on purpose. They cannot have just one single soverign superpower and still pull this off, they need to reduce the bigger countries to subservient states with the lofty goal of one world government for peace and security and the UN way. Look around, see what has happened over the past few decades.

Hackworth is a good guy, but I think he stops looking exactly at the level of personal mass uncomfortableness, that's where reality stops. All humans do that really, this is not per se a bad thing, it's quite the normal human thing, everyone stops at the precise level that they cannot get past, the sticking point where it goes from "agree-comfortable", to "this makes me really uncomfortable so I won't look at it so it doesn't exist so it's not there and pass the tinfoil let's laugh at it".

People just honestly do NOT want to see that the US is being sold down the river on hundreds of fronts on purpose, in a lot of ways, and by a lot of people and orgs.
