in essence that is what it is, although its not as "quaint" as you put it. Christ did say that his disciples would judge the tribes of Israel. He did not say that of you or I or others who have been saved. So obviously there will be those who have greater responsibilities/rewards in heaven than others and that is determined by what we do with our lives while on this earth.
