If you are looking at different bible versions, first let me say I stick with the KJV, but it can be difficult. I have found IMO for me that the Amplified Version helps more then any of the more modern ones. I have no clue if you can find it on the internet though.

Went I went into the service they gave me a "P" on my dog tags and handed me a KJV New Testament. The first Bible I purchased was the RSV and it is the one I am familiar with.

Frankly, when I see a passage posted from the Latin Vulgate, Douay-Rheims, or NAB I like to look the passage up for myself. (Not that I think any of our friends "invent" their own interpretations.)

My primary on-line source is the Bible Gateway which includes the following versions:

New International Version
New American Standard Bible
New Living Translation
King James Version
New King James Version
Revised Standard Version
21st Century King James Version
NIV formatted
Worldwide English (New Testament)
Young's Literal Translation
Darby Translation

If you wish to have the URL of this, and other excellent sites, I'd be glad to post them to you.
