That Mary is the Mother of God is the logical consequence of, and serves to lock in St. John's statement, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God, and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us." The confusion is on the part of folks who try to divide Jesus in two, the human Jesus and the divine Jesus, and say that Mary was the mother of the first but not the second.So I guess God became flesh twice? Somehow, I don't think this is rightly dividing the Word of truth.
