He is not speaking here of every man on the face of the earth, he was referring to those at that time, his disciples, not we. By your interpretation comparing it to the every eye phrase it would mean every man on the earth at the time which was not the case.

Not really. In the context of all the verses we've discussed your interpretation of "every" meaning "not every" is harder to prove than my interpretation of "every" actually meaning "every". Yet you press on. But those cultsih ideas have to be twisted somehow I guess.

Take this verse for instance. Paul to the Colossians somewhere in the first century in a letter. Now everyone here has an idea what this verse means seems simple enough. Yet if I was reading someone elses mail two dozen centuries removed, one might deduce that they weren't speaking about me today. So then when Paul says "ye" it is rather likely that he didn't mean me. Therefore all other sense must begin with recognizing the exact context of the audience to whom he was speaking and anything else must pass this contexual test. So when Paul uses the word "every" it could be deduced many ways, such as every one that was present; every one living at that time; every human alive; every human ever alive; the challenge being to prove all things, rightly divide, the word of God.
