The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

That would certainly make things easier, but I don't believe it is true. It takes two to tango, Adam and Eve participated in the Sin and (for most folks) it takes a man and a woman to bring about the creation of a new soul.

The giant hole in your statement is that Adam and Eve, Who had no father (or mother) did not originally have a sinful nature. Their sin was of choice, not by their nature. The sinful nature came about because of their sins and was passed on to us all, except for one, Jesus, who was the second Adam and also had no human father.

Step back and look at it as if you were hearing it for the first time" "Mary, the mother of God". If you are fair and honest you can see the problem with that statement. It implies that Jesus, who is God, did not exist before his human birth and that God himself sprang from Mary, rather than Mary being a created being, made by God.

Indeed it is a confusing term unless properly understood. I don't know if the Greek term has the same ambiguities.

If I give you a million dollars to give away for me, does that make you "rich"?

Are you denying what the catholic church says about Mary? Are you just blind?

You fail to see that we are all sinners, that no one can fulfill the Law. We have all sinned and without the atoning blood of Christ to wash away our sins we will be condemned by the Law. So how does the one who has sinned become righteous in the sight of God without the blood of Christ. Paul is right is saying the doers of the Law will be justified. Those who never transgress the Law will be justified. There is only one catch. No one can do it. It is impossible not to sin. It is impossible to keep the Law. Only Christ can.

You fail to see that the blood of Christ atones for the sins of all.

For the last time, what makes you think the word "brother" means "from the same uterus" when we know that the culture and language of Jesus did not use the word exclusively in that manner?

". . . For also JAMES, THE BROTHER, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, OF CHRIST OUR GOD, to whom the throne of the church of Jerusalem first was

What does this mean to you?

It says that Mary serves as a dispenser of God's grace, earned by Christ on the Cross. As Christ came to the world through Mary, she still serves as a channel throuhg which all of God's graces flow. No, I'm not blind.

That James was a human relative of Jesus.

Catholic reporting in. Yes, Satan exists and furthermore I have never heard of a Catholic who denied the existence of Satan. Has anyone on this thread heard otherwise? When a study finds 17% of Catholics don't believe in Satan,I automatically question the entire study. Catholics, anyone disagree with my "feeling" that something is amiss?

Not that you disagreed with what he was saying. You and I passed the argument back and forth in the way you have depicted (although you conveniently forgot your first response to make me look bad?) and I believe I apologized in #1442.

You did apologize for it but after this morning's post I concluded you didn't really mean it. My 1st reponse was to make my point and not to necessarily make you personally look bad. I wanted to make you collectively look bad. But that's not the issue anyway, I don't like it when people lie about what I say. That's what you did plain and simple. And I'm gonna call ya on it just as I would expect the same from you.

They must've polled the "Catholics" in Massachusetts (Kennedy and the like). ;o)

That James was a human relative of Jesus.

No, it says: brother according to the flesh, not relative according to the flesh.
