but there is no democracy in America right now.

What is really disturbing about this sort of leftist is that he means this in all sincerity because he defines democracy as "total control by superior people, like me, who know what the electorate would really want if they could get past their false consciousness."

This is a joke, right? Somebody yanking chains? If for real, the best way to ease his pain is for him to hop on the first available airplane going in Osama's direction so he can apologize to ole Bin in person. He might become a sacrificial symbol since his arrival might be in pieces. It seems the only thing those terrorists know is violence.

What a deranged punk. Love and kisses would be his response to the murder of our citizens? I wonder if he would kindly volunteer his family as the next victims. Anything but a military response is inviting more violence, not less.

A private university in San Antonio, very closely affiliated to the Catholic Church and, especially, to a convent. The same nuns also run a very expensive/exclusive girl's school just up the hill from the college's campus.

How do we get the socialists out of Congress? They seem to be pretty well integrated into the system.

It is with deep sorrow and regret that I speak with you today, for our government led by our fraudulently elected president is bombing your nation.

With this one sentence, 50% of America immediately tunes out.

What the hell is this? Some internet 'college' diploma mill? And how come he can only make Ass. Professor?

What an unaccomplished socialist weenie.

It amazing to me that the more education some people attain the more stupid they become. He must have a lot , because no one could get that stupid in just a few years.

This is addressed to the people of Afghanistan:

Returned to sender, address no longer in existence.

led by our fraudulently elected president is bombing your nation.

I'm sure election fraud means a great deal to these people. I recall how the Taliban squeaked into office on the strength of 500 loose chads in the latest free and fair election in that part of the world. BTW, that news was old even before 5000 of your hosts were murdered. Get over it.

I speak as a minority voice in America

uh, yeah you got that one right, Professor

for our elected officials and our "free and independent" media have chosen to talk to the American people about only one thing - war.

So I guess the "fraudulently elected" part doesn't mean anything after all, since all of our elected officials are involved. Does that tell you something, Professor? I guess under your regime the American media would only be reporting civilian casulties (as long as they were in other countries.)

You know America has a violent history,

Yes, our many evil wars of conquest: The Revolution (guess that's the one revolution you don't support), the Civil War, WWI and WWII, oh, and kicking another peaceful Moslem out of his little neighbor's country in the Gulf. Yes, we could certainly learn a lesson in non-violence from your beturbaned buddies.

so we know only way, one option - and that is war.

When hostile regimes persist in providing the means for evil people to murder our people by the thousands, war does come to mind as an option. However, considering that we are the only remaining superpower and allow so many backward and dangerous places in the world to remain non-radioactive, maybe we know a few other options, too.

We romanticize war and believe that honor and justice spring from war, no matter its origins.

No we don't, not since Pickett's charge, anyway. The honor and justice comes from the reasons we must go to war on occasion, and the heroism of soldiers fighting for something other than hatred or territory. ALL the romance is on the other side, where people believe murdering innocent civilians on purpose is proving something to El Cid.

The voices of peace have been silenced, either through threat or by fear of what might happen should they speak out.

Look up "self nugatory" Professor. Most of your friends are silent because they're afraid of nothing more than looking like idiots now. Just food for thought.

Although our government, its leaders and most of the American people are showing disregard for your safety, you must forgive them, for they do not know what they do.

Actually, we have the advantage of superior military technology that allows us to target hostile military and government assets with a great regard for their safety. If we had no regard for this, they would be shadows on a sea of glass by now. Nice quote. Jesus = Taliban.

Our president does not know of any other way, for he has surrounded himself with others who think the same way - violence solves violence.

Actually, only overwhelmingly superior violence. Keep watching. You'll see what I mean.

Our president does not know of any other way, for his father has shown him how to respond - by bombing another sovereign nation.

Ask the Kuwaitis whether dad's methods worked. Or don't -- might be rather tasteless to embarrass them at this point.

Our people would like to believe we are a just and free nation that has outgrown its past when minorities and women were second-class citizens. They would like to believe that is true because our laws use the words "justice and freedom for all."

yawn... Even if English is a second language, we expect something better from tenured professors in this country. I'd leave out the part about women being second-class citizens, though, when writing to these folks.

But there is a ruling class in America that does not like the new America and continues to force its will on the people, including people of other nations.

Yeah, but try as they might, the news media can't seem to do anything about the new America we've seen since last election.

I speak for a small minority in America

I've already given you credit for that answer, so don't expect another point.

that hurts for you and who hope and pray that soon, we will elect a person who will speak and act with one voice that truly represents the ideals of freedom and liberty for all people, including yourselves.

Oh, I get it! You're not writing to Afghanistan at all! It was the "freedom and liberty for all people, including yourselves" thing that gave it away. You're writing for the 28 people that will show up at the next peace rally in San Antonio. Maybe they'll let you be featured speaker. Professor, these folks don't want freedom and liberty for anyone, least of all alongside you and me under some magically elected Messiah, even Khofi Anan.

One day that voice will give you back your freedom

Doesn't look like that day is very far off now. Different voice, but same result, Afghanistan. Please make the most of your opportunity this time.

You ever notice how... nah, I won't say it. I know I don't like it when people make blanket statements about lawyers.

The tenure system must go, people like this should not be teaching our children. Higher education teachers should have to have survived in the real world for a minimum of ten years, that means no government or academic jobs, before being allowed to teach.

Mr Velasquez is a typical leftist who despises everything American. He has such compassion for the AFGHAN people but little for the 09-11-01 innocents murdered. He is aiding our foes and IMHO qualifies as a traitor since we are involved in a war.

Keep it up, PLEASE, Señor Velasquez! In this time of national crisis, you do the cause of freedom much good when you CLEARLY show the Democrat Party for what it truly is! I'm hoping the next election will be Bush in a landslide--with long coattails--so complete that you Dems won't come up for air for ten years.

If we want to encourage the Arab and Muslim world to root out the garbage from their midst we ought to set an example by rooting out this kind of garbage from our universities.
