our "esteemed" politicians would rather be hung by their toenails

Hey, their sexual preferences are their own business.

Dad was cop and maintained an armory in his bedroom closet...he didn't need trigger locks or a safe, 'cuz we kids knew he'd beat our a$$es into next Sunday if we ever got caught poking around his guns without permission!

I owned 3 handguns, a rifle, a WW2 Japanese sword (VERY SHARP), and a pump shotgun before I was 17. These weapons were under my control at all times. I did not have to ask permission to get them out or use them.

Like many people, I was picked on a lot in school.

Even though I had guns at my disposal, it never once occurred to me to take one to school and even the score.

The reasons were twofold.
1. My parents drilled good conduct and manners into me very early. It literally never came to my mind to settle a social dispute with a gun.

2. If I had ever thought of taking a gun to school, my next thought would have been "Dad will really truly kick my ass if I do that".

Guns aren't the problem. Kids aren't the problem.

Lame parents are the problem.

Wow. I could only justify getting a .44 Magnum; the .50AE was a bit too much and I heard ammo was not cheap either.

How much does it cost these days and is it hard to find?

I already have a couple of guns, and shot guns, but what good are they going to do me against a terrorist? I can't carry them around with me at work etc. Any ideas? I'm also a life member of the NRA, so don't get me wrong.

Personally, I hadn't owned a firearm for the past 15 years but I bought a new shotgun last week. My wife and I had been contemplating the purchase of a handgun since mid-summer, before the 911-inspired gun buying rush. We took our NRA safety classes, applied for our carry permits and were in the process of trying out various manufacturer's offerings.

Then the b@stards took out the WTC, 50 miles away. People that we had worked with in the past died there. Our priorities changed somewhat - from target/defense to defense/target - and that changed our minds from handgun to shotgun. Skeet is an eminently satisfying challenge as far as sport is concerned. And there's something about the idea of a slug generating 1000+ ft. lbs. of knockdown power at 125 yards that is a comfort to me. To say nothing of what a load of 00 buckshot will do if one is pressed by circumstance.

Damn! I can't remember the exact threads. I had right-clicked and saved the image to my hard-drive.

It was included in quite a few threads in the days just after 9/11. Someone here may have a copy that is more adept than myself at getting one posted here.

Not too hard to find...The good Samson Ammo runs $21.95 for a box of 20...over a buck a round. CCI can be had somewhat cheaper, though I've had some extreme accuracy problems with it (surprising, as I've generally regarded CCI/ Speer among the best factory stuff.)

Succesful .50 Eagle ownership is directly tied to one's willingness to handload. Both the Samson and the CCI brass (CCI is nickled) do well and last long. The Samson seems somewhat beefier.

I don't get you wrong, I take you seriously.

1. Remember that you are American. Courage is your birthright. Courage was built into you.

2. Your homepage does not show what state you live in. If your state allows for legal concealed carry under any conditions, apply for a permit. Before anyone flames me for being "Unconstitutional" please regard this advice as a matter of convenience. It beats being handcuffed.

3. Being an NRA Life Member you are presumably a good shot and know how to use many types of firearms. For those who are not NRA life members and not expert with handguns, get qualified training from NRA certified handgun instructors.

Carry your weapon whenever you can without breaking the law. The gun you have with you beats any gun left at home.

Gee, I wonder if her husband getting shot in the head had anything to do with her opinion?

I'm ignoring you. Grow up.

It's gotten much worse since I was a kid. I used to bring my .22 to school for the shooting club when I was in junior high (a little over 20 years ago).

No kidding. My high schrool shop project was to restock a shotgun. (Mossberg bolt action 20 ga.) This too was a little over 20 years ago. Teacher held on to the bolt until I was ready to inlet for it.

Your advise is well taken, but as I said before I am not allowed to have ANY weapon in my car or on my person when I report for work. So unless I bury my gun before I enter the base, I have no way of carrying a firearm with me! Have a nice day........... I was only looking for sugestions not scarcasm.

NewsChannel 8 in northern Virginia reported tonight that gun sales are up here by 200-300% in the past month. The reporter said many of the new purchasers are women. The reporter even went so far as to say it is recommended that new gun owners purchase revolvers since they are easier to operate. Amazing, isn't it? This was all reported without the usual obligatory press release statement from HCI or MMM and with a large American flag as a backdrop in the newsroom.

No sarcasm intended or even thought of. I did not do a good job of assessing your situation. I regret that.

Just because her husband got shot in the head doesn't mean she has to take it out on law-abiding gun owners.

Hnadgun???

Is this a new way of applying a certain Australian hair remover, called "Nads"?

(No doubt being marketed in the Middle East, where a number of words begin with a silent H.)

;)

Bought a new Ruger GP-100 last March and LOVE it! As a lady handgunner, with small hands and a bad back, it's great to shoot. Can shoot .38 or .357 with little recoil, tight patterns and is as solid as a rock!

A week after 911 I went out and bought a varmint rifle, for "just in case". Who kmows, coyotes might start running rampant or something...
