Malachy only gave motto's. So given that information, Petrus Romanus should be the motto of the last Pope, not his name. I believe Petrus means stone. So the last pope could be an Italian stone cutter or mason. Or the son of one.

These are a little vague, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Or maybe a whole bowl of salt. I'll bet if you took any nine "mottos" from the list and matched them, arbitrarily, with the nine Democratic Dwarves running for president, you could find something in each man's life which would correspond to that motto. All it takes is a little imagination.

Good point. Or perhaps, given his alleged apostate nature, the other kind of Italian 'Mason'...
