Great information. In essence, what that article said is that it took an extreme amount of effort to make St. Malachi's prophecy fit each pope. Including looking to the place of their birth and the coat of arms!

This is just another example of the Barnum Effect. If you say something broad or vague enough, people will see a connection to themselves or someone else. This is a bunch of bogus hooey.

If you are a Christian believer, Jesus says of the end of times no one knows when it will happen, not even Him, only the Father. That the Christ will return as a "thief in the night" when no one expects it. So, essentially, anybody who claims to know when the world will end, from a Christian perspective, is trying to say that he knows better than Christ. That is a pretty amazing statement for a 'Christian' to make.

People continually claim that this that or the other fulfills prophecy. My favorite book as an example of this was written in the 1860s explaining how Napoleon III was the anti-christ and the world was going to end in 1870-something... Sheesh.

Good thoughts. Personally, I am a practicing Catholic and have never been interested in when the end times are coming (though I did say that God squeezing in a Mets-Yankees world series in 2000 was a sure sign that the end was nigh).

Let her rip, I say! I won't say I would be fearless, but I won't get faithless. With faith, and a good six shooter, what more does a man need but an ample bosom to rest his weary head upon? ;-)

God's will be done, I think I heard that somewhere.

I agree with you but can you please confirm that the bold part doesn't contradict what I wrote :
No doubt this prediction is a strong sign of God. Or with other words : it's wrong to make people believe that they should not take their time to reflect on this - and I mean the whole story, including the fact that this is in Drudge.
