My thesis is that there had to be MORE than four planes that were targeted. 100% for anyone is good. There had to be several other planes that were about to be highjacked but weren't becuase something happened, e.g., flight cancelled, inbound was late, fog, late connecting bags, etc. I'd like to see the passenger lists for every other transcon that left the east coast at a time that would have put it near NYC, DCA or another choice target at between 9:15 and 9:30 AM on 9/11. It is from those lists that you'd get the names of would be bad guys. In fact, I think that is how/why the FBI picked up the two guys on Amtrac in Fort Worth. I also believe that the "insiders" on all 6 or 8 or 10 flights were actually cab drivers who had regularly walked through security to get coffee and set a no-search pattern. The key is that anyone who looks/sounds like a non-citizen ought to be checked regularly.

It is evident from early reports that that was indeed the case. At the least, there was a plane leaving New York and another that landed early in St. Louis that appear to have been targeted. But the official story has since become that no other planes were targeted, and we're supposed to regard those stories as down the memory hole.

Reports the week after the attack said that at least one of the hijackers was already in the cockpit, riding as a "courtesy" awarded to pilots of other airlines: thus the apparent reason for the stolen uniforms and fake pilot's licenses found in Atta's effects. Those same reports claimed that there were 12 planes that were grounded on 9/11 that had Middle Eastern men sitting in the cockpits, masquerading as pilots and riding as "courtesy passengers".

I have read nothing more about this since 9-20, or so. Were these reports false? Were these Middle Eastern "pilots" arrested or detained after the ground flights made their way back to the gates? Do the airlines still allow "licensed" pilots to share the cockpits on scheduled flights as a "courtesy"? Those are just some of the questions I'd like to hear answered.
