(First of all, thank you, Jim Robinson, for allowing the announcement of a FReeper-authored book to be posted on the site. Yet another example of Jim's support for all of our efforts to champion the cause of liberty.)
Several FReepers (who may be too modest to desire attention on this particular thread, but who are mentioned in the 'acknowledgments' section of the book) were intimately involved with Jeff in the authoring/editing process. As a result, 'Breath of Fire' represents, in part, a collaborative FReeper effort.
I can think of no better way to 'promote' this book than to recount what I wrote in the guestbook at Jeff's 'Breath of Fire' website:
I have known the author for several years, and have collaborated with him on several activist 'projects' whose purpose was to light a fire (or fan an already existing spark) within the hearts of his countrymen in an effort to reclaim our beloved republic, and restore her to her former self (the most moral/prosperous nation in the history of the world). Collaborating with Jeff on 'Breath of Fire' has been a distinct privilege. Jeff's strong and abiding faith, his dedication to his family, his knowledge of American and world history/current events, his devotion to the principles that were the force behind America's rise to greatness, his resolve to do all that is within his power to restore her to that greatness, and his intelligent and vivid depictions of entirely possible future events (should the free world neglect to be vigilant and prepared) all find their way onto the pages of this chillingly prophetic (but certainly not without optimism) book. And books two through five promise to be just as intriguing....
'Dragon's Fury -- Breath of Fire' is the first in a series of five books which, from the perspective of a knowledgable, well-informed, dedicated patriot, portray entirely possible (and very disturbing) future events. But the perspective is not without optimism. Nor is it without a belief in the spirit and resolve that has always been truly and uniquely American -- a belief that, if we are able to summon the necessary vigilance and preparedness, that spirit and resolve will see us through the crises which continue to loom just over the horizon.
When asked why he wrote the book, and why he is writing the rest of the series, Jeff responded (in part):
.... we have allowed ourselves to be weakened to the point of being vulnerable. On September 11, 2001 we were shown just how vulnerable in a very horrific way. But even that did not show us the full potential of where such vulnerabilities can lead. We must be vigilant, lest events like those described in "Breath of Fire" come about and we are taken completely advantage of in our weakness, and we lose the liberties that have been paid for in blood by those who have gone before.
The book describes international intrigue and planning at the highest levels of foreign governments. It describes disasters which befall America as extremely committed and ruthless individuals put those plans into motion, and it describes the hope that a free people can project on even the most tragic and difficult of circumstances....
Barring unforeseen difficulties, books two through five ('Trodden Under,' 'High Tide,' 'The Long March,' and 'Eagle's Talons') will be published in six-month intervals, with book two expected to be published in early spring of 2002.

Have a safe trip.

If it hadn't been for Jeff's patriotic and self sacrifice in the service of liberty at Klamath, the book would have been announced at least a month earlier. The prophetic aspect of "Breath of Fire" would then have been even more unsettling. Much success to you, Jeff as I know how many hours and how much of yourself you've invested in the book.
Good Tuesday Morn, MUD. I suppose it is the nature of America to forget the lessons of the past and to be open to the "sucker punch" as we most recently saw on Sept 11. What also marks us, and I know that Jeff sees as a fundamental part of our Nation, is its spiritual bedrock from which will flow the power and resolve to ultimately triumph over all adversaries.
On another note, the 'Skins were really disappointing last evenng.
I don't think it adds a thing to the novel, but I'll be more than happy to accomodate as long as I possibly can.
I'm hoping to have my ISBN's back tomorrow so I can officially register this for the printed version. I'll have it available on my site and also be shipping a few to Amazon and Barnes and Nobels online (hopefully) and then replensihing their stock as required.
I'll be saving most for my site to begin with because that's where the higher margin is ... at least until a healthy volume picks up in those other places (old free market, captialist me).
Regards. Will be interested in your take.
I'll call as we get closer to those dates.
... of course without your help, Joanie's, harpseal's, Travis McGee's and others, I couldn't have gotten it done in any case.
Hope it goes well and that folks have an enjoyable, engrossing and thought provoking read that they then tell others about.
Here's one back at ya.
BUMP BTTT !
You were nice to give a sample, but you make your money! You have earned it and deserve it.
I'd consider it an honor to buy for all of You. If You have anything else in mind, I'm pretty versatile.

My check (for a hard copy) is in the mail. ;o)
Regards, LGE
I hope you get a chance to get one of the books and that you find it interesting, enjoyable and thought provoking. They are being printed now (though since it is self funded the quantities are low) and here's a couple of pics.
I'll BUMP you to a thread where I got my first "official" review.
Regards.
Hope lots more follow.
Am looking very forward to completing the other four novels in the series.
